  • After one week

OK I yesterday was my experiment day, I tried and Modified some of Linda's lowcarb and induction friendly recipes. I searched this board up and down for a good cheesecake recipe and mine came out terrible, I aftertaste of the artificial sweetner was horrible! The tuna deviled eggs were very good! and I modified the jalapeno poppers with bacon bits and cheddar cheese instead of cream cheese and it was delightful the entire family enjoyed it! I am only one week in today I havent weighed yet but i will when i get to work, my jeans are a bit looser in the stomach area I am only one week in and my family says my snoring has stopped! is that possible? I mean so soon, after just one week?

    Congrats on the loose jeans!

I'm not fond of the artificial sweetener aftertaste either. The only way I've found to lessen it is to lower the amount of sweetener or to use two different sweeteners, like Splenda and Saccharin. But I can still taste the weirdness....

Have fun modifying recipes to suit your Atkins. After spending money on "low carb cookbooks", I found that many "regular" recipes are naturally low carb or can be modified to be low carb.

I'm not sure where you're located, but here we get a sweetener called 'sodium cyclamate' which is banned in the US, not sure about other countries. On it's own it can also have an aftertaste in recipes, but when mixed with splenda, it comes out great....

I only bought my first low carb cookbook recently, Atkins for Life..I only bought it because it was on sale for $6. alot of the recipe have atkins bake mix so i wont be making them...there are some that are ok though. but really i'm not terribly impressed and glad i didn't spend alot of money on the book! like megs says alot of the recipes are just regular recipes that are naturally low carb.

One thing about Splenda, cooking it gives an odd, slightly bitter taste. It works best in dishes that you can add it to after it's cooked.
