    Hi there,

I'm pretty new at this - I'm on day 4 of induction. I've been using fitday to keep track of my food & exersize. I have found it a bit difficult to try to figure out how many carbs/calories there are in some recipes I'd like to try - so I've kept it simple so far, but I don't want to let it get boring.

I did find a recipe analyzer today & plugged in a couple recipes - and boy am I glad I did - one of them turned out to have 20 carbs/serving! That would have been a boo-boo on induction!

I also tried another one at a Canadian dietitians site but didn't care for it (not flexible enough in ingredient measurements - for example, it would only let me enter shrimp as '# of shrimp, small' not by the pound.

This is the one I used:
    Recipe Analyzer
I found entering the ingredients pretty clunky - the page refreshed everytime I did anything, and I'd have to scroll down each time to get back where I was. However, I was able to enter everything & some results.

I was wondering what others on the board are using, and if anyone else is using the fitwatch one (& what you think of it).

    Thank-you, Julie

P.S. It doesn't have to be free - I to cook & am willing to invest in good food and this WOE. (But free is good too)

    Re: Recipe analyzer

Most often I use the one on NutritionData. Sometimes I use FitDay, which is easier if you have all the foods you usually eat entered as custom foods, so that you are able to add them all at once.

      Hi Georgiana,

I'm wondering if I'm missing something in Fitday...

If I have a recipe such as:
      Stick To Your Ribs Chili
      2 pounds ground beef
1 heaping teaspoon minced garlic (about 1 large clove, fresh)
      1 tablespoon red pepper flakes
1 14.5-ounce can diced tomatoes with green chilies
1 15-ounce can no sugar added tomato sauce
1 8-ounce can no sugar added roasted garlic tomato sauce
1 tablespoon cayenne pepper (or to taste)
      1 tablespoon onion powder
      1 teaspoon paprika
      1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
      1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
      sour cream (optional)
      shredded cheddar cheese (optional)
      ...

I don't have the nutritional info to enter in to Fitday to make it a cutom food...I was going to use a recipe analyzer to get it, then enter it into Fitday as a custom food with all of the nutritional data from the analyzer. It would be nice if Fitday would create a custom food for you by allowing you to enter a recipe, analyze it, then create a custom food for you...if it does do that, I haven't found the feature.

I'll try the NutritionData one & see if I like it better than the fitwatch one.
      Thanks for the reply.

        Re: Recipe analyzer

For FitDay. The trick is to go to a new day (one in which you have nothing entered) and enter all the ingredients there. Then FitDay will give you the totals for that day and you can use them to create a custom food. So after you have the numbers you need, there's a link on the left that says "Create a custom food" or similar...
