I just noticed Ruth Reichl's latest tweet (on Twitter, for those who don't know what I'm talking about):
Thank you all SO much for this outpouring of support. It means a lot. Sorry not to be posting now, but I'm packing. We're all stunned, sad.
So I checked the news to see what happened... and there it was: Foodie World Mourns Gourmet Magazine - WSJ.com

I'm wondering what will happen with their website.....

Wow, that is sad. Gourmet has been around forever. So many people do get info from the 'net nowadays rather than hardcopy magazines and newspapers that a lot of them are going under. I just thought Gourmet would always be around though.

      Re: Gourmet Magazine

WOW! I'm kinda happy that I didn't renew my subscription and I'm kinda sad that it's gone.

It's a great magazine. There were plenty of naturally low carb recipes in it---at least 20-30% of every issue.

If you want something from their website (e.g. the Diary of a Foodie episodes), I think now is the time to grab it...

I hope they don't get rid of the show too!

            Re: Gourmet Magazine

Well, I had to run to the supermarket during lunch hour to pick up a few things and I bought the November 2009 issue of Gourmet. I haven't had the time to read through it yet.

              Re: Gourmet Magazine

For those wondering what will happen to gourmet.com:
Please be advised that Gourmet magazine will cease publication after the November issue.

Subscribers can look forward to receiving Bon Appetit magazine for the remainder of their subscription. The Gourmet.com website will remain available during a transitional period, and access to Gourmet recipes will also remain available via sister site Epicurious.com and the Epi iPhone application.

Oh my, I just gave our 2 sons about 2 doz Gourmet Magazines I had collected from over 10 years ago. The boys share a home and love to cook fancy dinners when they entertain. The girls are very impressed! I better make sure they don't toss them out even more now.
