  • oopsie roll question

I'm thinking about making some oopsie rolls sometime this weekend - but I was wondering if, instead of spenda, if anyone uses a savory spice such as a little bit of onion powder or a mix of onion powder/garlic powder?

I'm not being very "adventurous" with my meal planning - my husband doesn't want to be on this diet with me as he loves his carbs and doesn't really need to lose weight - so I fix him his more adventurous meal and then just keep my own VERY simple. I tend to do better that way, if I'm not in the kitchen too much with my own. But, I think I will try to bring in the oopsie rolls as an addition to the extra veggies I'm doing for a little more variety on my plate.

Sure - without sweetener but with added spices or even just a bit of salt they will be fine.

I find most USA-style recipes are too sweet for me so often omit or cut down the sweetener, especially with the 'bread-type' ones.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

The recipe that I use doesn't have splenda at all, just eggs and cream cheese and cream of tartar. I would think adding some spices would be awesome.

I made them last night using just a little salt and 1/8 tsp. garlic powder and 1/8 tsp. dried dill.

Wonderful! Just amazing - they didn't have an "egg" taste at *all* - something I worried about. I used them as buns for my hamburger with some lettuce and they held up amazingly well.

This morning I had one with a light smear of butter and it was just delicious - even just like that, wonderful!

I think if a "sweet" thing hits me, I will try them with just a little bit of splenda packet and some cinnamon powder.

I didn't think of using onion powder, I think I have the impression that onion powder has carbs in it - I need to check that because if it's "safe" I will most CERTAINLY use it.

If people here have not yet tried the oopsie rolls, I can't recommend them highly enough. If you are careful and ever so gently fold, but not overfold any more than absolutely necessary, they come out quite high and fluffy. I'm really amazed at the finished product.

all spices and herbs have carbs even your garlic and dill. just track them with the rest of your days carb count.

After all of my years on Atkins (since 2003), I still have never made an oopsie roll. I need to go find that recipe and try it.

You really should, I find them quite amazing. I was really, really missing bread and this absolutely does it for me. I rather suspect I will prefer the savory to the sweet, but am trying them both to see how they go.
