  • Rough Day Dinners

    Heya,

So, today I had a really rough day. Morning band rehearsal went poorly (no one could focus, and that got me off to a bad start), I had three students say that they were thinking about or wanting to quit the program (maybe I have been driving them too hard, or maybe they are going through typical middle school emotional swings, who knows), and during after school play practice everyone wanted to goof off instead of getting work done, which led to be blowing up, and them blowing up right back at me (amazing how adolescent kids can feed off of that stuff) despite the fact that opening night is less than a week away. On top of it all, I had a district-wide elementary band concert tonight and I got the job of supervising and trying to control 36 excited drummers backstage... ugh. After all of that I was so frazzled all that I wanted to do was buy a fifth of Wild Turkey and drink myself into oblivion. Instead I went to a local diner and had a dinner of liver and onions with a side of green beans, hmm, that actually made me feel a lot better. Other than that my stressed out dinner of choice is a big greek salad with lots of extra anchovies.

Do you have any meals that really make you feel better after a nutso day? If so, what are they?

Creamy scrambled eggs with crispy bacon or smoked salmon. That's my low carb comfort food. I guess it's the combo of the warm, soft, custardy eggs and the saltiness of the bacon or smoked salmon that comforts me.

The other one is brie and sherry soup---but it's too tempting to leave out the brie after an especially hard day.

My comfort food is bruschetta(no bread) with lots of fresh garlic, torn basil and a dash of aged balsamic in it, a hunk of good cheese and a salad.

When I go out, my comfort food is a tropical kimchee sashimi salad at this great japanese restaurant by my house. they put fresh fruits in it for the tropical twist and the kimchee makes my upper lip sweat :yes
