    Re: British Menus please?

I still mix up Aubergine & Courgette - I know one is zucchini and one is eggplant, but can never remember which is which when I come across the term.

I don't understand what a 'rasher' of bacon is...I have seen Brits use the term rasher and seen them use 'slice'...same thing???

Otherwise, I seem to be able to understand most of the American & English menus/food discussions

Please don't ask me to define Canadian Bacon...I don't think anyone in Canada knows...we call ham 'Ham', Bacon 'Bacon' and also have these funny little round thinly sliced disks of ham called 'Canadian Bacon' (As Chef Kevin described)...don't know why it is called that...

I think the most remarkable thing is that you can get the same brand of some things in Canada, the US, Australia/New Zeland and the UK (& Europe...and beyond)...like Hellman's Mayo & Philladelphia cream cheese...

The last post by Tum-Tum was January 26th. It's possible she/he won't answer you.

As you know, strawberries aren't allowed on Induction.

Yes a rasher is a slice.

In the US bacon is made from the belly and doesn't have a rind/skin and is really fatty.

In other parts of the world it comes from a different part of the pig quite often, and can have the rind/skin left on it.
