So call me lazy. I love stuffed cabbage (an old family recipe), but I've updated it for my lack of time and patience and for Atkins.
Meat Mixture:
2 pound of ground pork
3/4 cup of finely diced onions
1 egg
3/4 teaspoon of pepper
1 teaspoon sage
1/2 teaspoon marjoram
Mix with hands and form meatballs (about 1 1/4 inch in diameter).
Use some olive oil on the bottom of a Dutch Oven and brown the meatballs. When all are browned, remove and place a layer of shredded cabbage on the bottom of the Dutch oven. Put in a layer of meatballs, then more shredded cabbage, additional meatballs and the remaining shredded cabbage. (You can add as much or as little cabbage as you wish.)
Add one can of stewed tomatoes (I usually use the food processer to smooth the "pulp"). Add a small amount of salt and pepper to taste and cook in 350 degree oven for 1 - 1/2 hours.
Heats up well.
