  • Hardee's and Carl's Jr. Low Carb hamburger

Low-carb mania may reach new highs Monday when the Hardee's and Carl's Jr. hamburger chains announce plans to introduce the fast food world's first "low-carb burgers." The big bunless burgers - 1/3- to 1/2-pound - will come wrapped in large leaves of iceberg lettuce for a handhold on the burger and fixings. I think in n out was the first to have a low carb burger.

I had a taste of the low-carb Thickburger on Saturday. Well worth the $2.99 price tag. Probably the best fast food hamburger I've had in a loooong time. Tell them easy on the ketchup and mustard though...Hardee's can get a little crazy with the condiments sometimes!

        Ate a Thickburger last Friday

Tried the "Thickburger" at Hardee's last Friday - pretty darn tasty, and the lettuce wrap made it easy to eat, not sloppy at all. I'd recommend for the occasional quick bite.

I had it yestaerday. I loved it, but the only problem was that the greedy person that I am went for the 2/3 lb one, and it was too big to bite!!!! I will got for the 1/3 lb next time. Very tasty, not at all like the last Hardees burger that I had. I have never been a great fan of Hardees, but I guess now they will be getting some of my business again. The net carbs for the 1/3 pound are only 3.

            Any sandwich at Hardees

The Hardee's in our community will do any sandwich low carb for you. I had the grilled chicken last night and it wasn't bad. It's a little like bbq. I'm still amazed, however, that they always ask, "Do you want fries with that?"

Plus.... on the thickburger, if you have them leave off the ketchup and the onion, you reduce the carbs even more!

Much like psigna, I've never been a Hardee's fan. Last night I was hungry for a burger, but didn't feel like making one myself, so I stopped at Hardees and got their low carb burger.

It was so good. I couldn't believe it!

Has anyone else noticed that Hardee's service is, um...not the greatest? I went in at 6:00 last night and there were TWO people working. One person was cooking, and the other was taking orders (inside AND drive thru!). It took forever...but at least it was worth it!
A long time ago, I went from 317 to 234.

I tried it last night. We don't have Hardee's on the West Coast but the Carls Jr Low Carb Six Dollar Burger is right up there with the Protien Style Double Double from In & Out. You guys have a choice of thickness at Hardee's?!?! Damn...

Darn being in the NorthEast where Hardees apparently doesn't exist .

                    Hehe, about Hardees service though...

Once while visiting some friends in North Carolina, we stopped at a Hardees for lunch (this was long before I had even heard of Atkins). I went to the counter and ordered my burger and coke, a nice simple order, just a basic burger with cheese, bacon, and pickles, nothing else. The cashier takes my order and then calls it back through her microphone, asking for a burger with 'cheese, ketchup, onions, and pickles'. I am somewhat confused at this point, wondering if that was really my burger she just called back, but since I was the first one in line, and my party was the only group of people in that restaurant, I figured it had to be. I corrected her, and she called back 'burger with cheese, ketchup, bacon, mustard, and pickles' closer, but still not quite right.... I corrected her one more time, and she called it back correctly. Well, everyone else places their order, the food comes up, we sit down to eat. I open up my burger and what do I see? Ketchup, onions, pickles, no bacon. UGh, I go up and ask for them to fix it, they take it away, minutes later a new burger comes out. I hold my breath and open it.... Cheese, Bacon, Pickles...... and ketup and onion. Oh well, at this point it is close enough, I don't want to deal with it anymore. I take a bite and reach over to take a sip of coke to wash away the ketchupy taste, and what do you know, it tastes like carbonated water.... hehe I stand up and go back to the counter and say that my coke seems not to be right and the cashier simply looks at me and says 'Yeah, the Coke tastes funny today'.... I really was beyond words at that point .

LOL, that's a funny story NulloModo

So the Carls' Jr burger is $6 and the Hardees burger is $2.99? (How unfair that there is only Carl's Jr around here!)

Dreaming Tree...the Carl's Jr. $6 burger actually sells for $3.95. They came up with the name "The Six Dollar Burger" since that is what they believe you would pay in a regular restaurant for that size burger. I have had the Low-Carb burger from Carl's Jr. and highly recommend trying it!

One morning I was on my way to school, running late per usual, and I missed breakfast- so I stopped at Carl's for a burger (they have burgers for breakfast lol). Anyway, I order and pull up to the window. The man tells me "we have coupons for free sodas when you order the low carb burger, do you want one?" First of all, I was never the kind of person to drink sodas in the morning, but- most importantly- WHY WOULD YOU GET A LOW CARB BURGER BUT THEN GET A SODA?!? For cryin' out loud!Well I got the soda to give to a friend, but then the guy gave me two more coupons!! Oh, and they have a meal now- $6 burger, side salad, and soda...$6. Gasp...well at least they are TRYING!!!!

Heh, well, yeah, they aren't doing too bad . Not all low-carb diets are anti-diet soda, the Atkins approach seems to be the strictest with regards to aspartame and caffeine. In fact a lot of people can consume both substances and it doesn't slow them down at all, just for some, it does, so everyone is cautioned to look out to avoid the effects.

Plus there is a growing group in the population who is happing halfway onto the low-carb bandwagon, without reading or understanding any of the books or actual systems of the diets to understand why they work and how they work. They figure that if low carb helps you lose weight, reducing some of their carb intake must be a good thing, so they get the low carb burger and salad with a regular coke, because it has less carbs than a regular burger fries and coke, so it must be better for them right ? .
