Hi Guys,
I'm fairly new to this board and have a ton of questions to ask those on the Diabetic Forum.
I was diagnosed with type 2 Diabetes 5 years ago and never managed to have good control. I was notorious for going on and off my med's (metformin) and rarely controlled my diet. The result....high BGL's,lipids,BP and lots of weight.
Well after 6 weeks of induction I'm pleased to say that I've lost 18lbs (which I'm pleased with since I also have PCOS) and my blood sugar readings are between 4-6mmol/L. So far so good. O.K now for the questions.
1.The thing is that I have only read "Atkins Diabetes Revolution" Am I
misssing out on some important info by not having read the other
books?
2. Currently I'm on 1000mg of metformin 3 times daily. I do want to
eventually reduce my med's but after being on insulin for a short period
of time I'm scared of going off them too fast. How long should I wait
before asking my GP to lower the dose? (Next Hb1AC due in 6 weeks)
3. I know that metformin can make you feel upset in the tummy but for
the last few weeks I've had no appetite and have to force myself to
eat. Is this normal?
4. Two weeks ago I started taking supplements which include folate,
chronium, vit E, magnesium, fish oil and COQ10. Is there anything else I
should be iuncluding?
Sorry for all the questions.
Lady T.
