  • Vidiots' House of Pain - Part III

    Let me start by re-introducing myself. I'm Anna, a goalie and semi-lapsed video exercise fanatic. In May, I injured my knee, and then events at work overtook me. Long story short, I've gained 10 pounds and strayed from exercise.

    But I'm committed to get back to it, to post here to keep myself honest, and I'm asking anyone who's interested to join me in a six-week (36 workout) Slim in 6 challenge.

    For those who aren't familiar with Slim in 6, it's a six week "program" of three workout videos of increasing difficulty: Start it Up, Ramp it Up, and Burn it Up. You move up to the next level after mastering the previous one. It's not easy, and it hurts a lot at first, but the progress you make is *amazing*. The first time I did Slim in 6, I was already at goal, but lost 6 inches in 6 weeks anyway!

    So please join me, new and old, in challenging yourself to stick with Debbie Siebers, the Pixie of Pain, for six short weeks.

    If you join, just add a counter to your signature line, and post your workouts here where we can commiserate with each other.

    let me introduce myself ..I am Heidi and I hate exercise ..well I hate anything that requires me to do certain movements over and over to acheive a desired end to a means ..you know what I mean ...(hmmm I do not mean sex however I love that!!!...) ..I love to move!!!! just not with intent...

    oh never mind...

    my dear Barbde sent me a Slim in Six and I am going to start it ..I am really sick with a cold today but tomorrow morning before work I will start...

    I have two insanely exciting trips planned this year ...that involve a lot of physical activity ...hiking climbing ect....and I dont want to whine more than I have to .... so I really need to get my shiit together and find a form of exercise that builds more muscle ....

    so here I am ....at your and this video's mercy ....

      Hey, Lawyerchick and HeidiE...Count me in on this too! I have a love-hate relationship with this series...but, need to workout, so might as well have some people to commiserate with!

        Yeah, yeah! Heidi's here! WE CAN DO THIS!!!

        Believe me, nothing will prepare you for strenuous physical exertion quite as well as Slim in 6. I find even when I'm religiously doing other workouts, if I go back to Slim in 6 again, I hurt . . . a lot. (Way, way more than waxing!)

        To avoid the whole "New Year's Resolution" thing and to get my groove going before returning to (bleah) work, I started a couple of days ago. So here are my stats:

        12/30 - Ramp it Up
        12/31 - Ramp it Up
        1/1 - Ramp it Up

          I am so going to whine about this you know ...

          you guys Queen Lawchick I am so glad to see you OOOOXXXX this has been a crazy year ..and I am such a flake....so some changes make the next one better ..for me it is actually having resolve with exercise!!!

          I am pushing 50 and want to hike and adventure trek in Southeast Asia (this year) with my friends..I can not do this if I do not get stronger!!! so I will do it I promise...I just feel so crappy today I am going to just make some soup...

                with Barbde in mind (and she is on my asss every single day about exercise) I am going to go and get the dvd and watch it now so I know what I am getting myself into here.....

                    I am waiting for my videos to arive and then I'll join you guys in this challenge, my first one ever.
                    They should be here probably tomorrow, so I look forward to it.
                    I have no idea whatsoever what I'm getting myself into, but I know one thing: I need some more fun workouts than just my ole bike and rowing machine.
                    I'll let you know as soon as I got my stuff !!!!

                      So glad to hear it! I'm looking forward to hearing what you think of the workout.

                      Speaking of which, HEIDI did you watch the tapes yesterday? Try it out yet? Come on, we're waiting to hear from you!

                        Heideeee, where are yoooouuu? QBU - I know you'll stop by when you can.

                        Okay, day 4 of Ramp it Up completed, and everything feels so much better. Legs aren't jelly anymore, can make it through everything except the a$$crampers without stopping, can sit down on the toilet without wincing. Huge improvement over yesterday, seemingly overnight. I love this workout!!!

                        But also a warning for anyone who's reading along at home. Do NOT step on the scale or take measurements during the first few days of this. The gain from water bloat/muscle strain is *really* scary.

                            this cold is kicking my ***!!! I spent the entire day trying to get my house clean and just flopping between rooms with body aches and exhaustion ...blech.....this really sucks!!!

                            can I just start tomorrow? I can not imagine this going on for more than two days I never get sick

                              just to make sure, what is the order that I work those videos, I am only getting the videos and not any of the informationbooklets or so, so I am not sure.
                              Heidie, I am kinda late in this too, so don't worry , we'll both be ways behind, although I am pretty sure I can start with it today, cause my vids arive later in the mail.
