I really need a workout program. I've been debating curves. I've heard a lot of good things about it and was wondering if any of you had success with it and if you recommend it.

I'm knock-kneed, so doing stuff like aerobics and yoga doesn't work for me. I wanted to do pilates, but I can only find classes during the day and that won't work once I'm teaching. I need to find something I can stick with and I think that might be it, so just wondering how you've done on it.

    Thanks!

:wave Hi Ambi Glad you are getting your exercise program going. Married life treating you well? Bren is a Curves instructor so if you PM her about it you can get specific questions answered about the exercise program. I know she started out as just an Atkineer exercising there for the 6WEC and poof they offerred her a job.

Thanks 2big! It's great to see you back on the boards. You've been missed! I hope things are going okay for you and I'm very sorry about your dad.

Married life is going pretty good. We're moving next month to our first house, so that's exciting. There's a Curves down the road and it's one place I haven't tried yet and it seems unique. I want something I can stick with and won't get bored with and I'm hoping this is it.

I found out that it's women ONLY. Men are not even allowed to enter the place.

It's a workout place for women of all sizes and ages. And it's a circuit thing mixed with cardio and weight training. They say all it takes is 30 min. a day 3 days a week and there are results. The price was pretty good too at $29 a month.

It looks really awesome and on my off-days I'll prolly take a walk with hubby or something. You can go to the website and find one near you and check it out. My first workout is tomorrow and I can't wait.

I love Curves! The circuit training makes the 30 minutes go by so fast. All of the ladies chit chatting probably help pass the time too! And its mostly normal ladies like you and I. No buff barbie doll types to intimidate anybody (no offense to anyone)! There are definitely all body types and sizes and everybody can set their own level of intensity. Did I mention I LOVE Curves?

How often do you go to Curves?

I went for my first time today and I still can't believe that this actually works. I had a great workout and was def. sweating by the time I left. It went by SO FAST and it was so much fun. Not a dull moment. I can't believe how quickly I keep changing machines. Everyone is so friendly too. I was taught how to do workouts to where I'm still working the same areas, but not hurting my legs since I'm knock-kneed. My right knee (which has been giving me trouble) did hurt a bit though. I'm thinking about getting one of those knee support things at Walmart. Anyone try those out at all? Do they even work?

My ponytail holder broke while working out and the person working there gave me a new one right away. It's just all very nice. I'm very impressed. They have some star thing going on right now and I got two stars today!

I go 3-4 times a week (or that's what I aim for at least). Once you get into it, you can even start going around the circuit an extra time (as long as nobody's waiting to get on). I try to go around 3 times now if I have time or they aren't ready to close.

I went to a Curves a few weeks ago while out of town and it was very different than my regular Curves. People were still very friendly and all, but nobody checked their heart rate when prompted by the "voice" and nobody stretched (except for me of course) and people were skipping machines and jumping all over the place. There's another thread here that talked about stretching after Curves and how the stretches are a BIG part of the workout. If you don't do the stretches, you're losing a part. I think Bren can comment on that too if you are interested. I'll see if I can find the link to the thread.

                      I'm glad you enjoyed it!

                            Jumping in here...

                            I miss Curves.

I went to Curves for a year and loved it. I quit because I has hurt my shoulder and it seemed like it wouldnt heal and every time I went to exercise it got worse. (Also went 5-6 times a week for most of that year). I do miss it though and now that my shoulder is better I have been contimplating on going back. But only 3 times a week and see how it goes. I loved it and did I already say that I miss it a lot?!

memo to self..... see what time they open in the morning and head on over this week to get reaquainted with an old friend.........

Im glad this post was here. I think it is the straw on that camels back that is going to get me to return!

I woke up today feeling like I was beat with a stick. My back is hurting me and my shoulders are hurting me. Ugh!

I feel energized though, but decided I should probably let today go and take a walk instead and resume Curves tomorrow. I can't believe how much of a workout I got.

I'm looking forward to heading back there tomorrow. It will be nice when I move in July and the Curves is down the street instead of 45 min. away.
