  • FitWatch or Gym Equipment, which one is right?

Hi I hit up the gym today and did 35 minutes on the crosstrainer and 10 minutes on the treadmill. The machine said that based on my weight and age I burned 300 calories. The treadmill says that as I alternated walking and jogging I burned another 100 calories, bringing my daily total to 400. The number I usually get when I do my 3 mile walk with weights.

But I just looked up on FitWatch and they say that based on my weight for moderate to vigerous effort and 35 minutes I burned 770 calories. That's a huge difference! They got the walking/jogging right, they said 94.

I'm just wondering, are the machines at the gym accurate when they calculate how many calories burned? Or should I go with fitwatch? Since I'm not weighing until September I use my calorie equation to keep me strait and am kind of confused on what numbers I should plug in for calories expended. What do you guys think?
