  • Help!!what Is Cathe Doing To Me?!?!

    oh my God i purchased the home step system that comes with a Cathe Freidrich beginner's step dvd and have only done her workout 4 times. It is fun and addictive by the way! anywhoo....i weighted 163 lbs before starting the tape. Today i weighed myself and Im up 5 lbs! what the he** this sucks. the way that my body is, i seem to put on muscle very quickly but i havent lost the fat yet. maybe i should slow down, but i liked the workout and this is the 1st time that i ever liked being sweaty! i dont want to stop, but i dont want to bulk w/ fat on top of the muscle.

    Keep off the scale! The scale is evil! Which is better? Not exercising and weighing 150 and looking flabby or exercising and weighing 163 but looking toned?

      Wow! Congrats on making your way through Cathe. I can't keep up with her yet. Now, as hard as it is, since you're starting an intense workout routine, STEP AWAY FROM THE SCALE!! My first 6 week rotation through Slim in 6, I ended up gaining weight and losing major inches. And the muscle I added is incredible. As you add muscle, you'll retain a ton of water as well. So as long as you're eating right, don't worry about what the scale says for awhile.

        thanks for the reply. I was thinking about getting her gym style but i KNOW i am not ready for that! I REALLY pushed to get through her tape. I tried the burn it up segment of slim in 6 and i cursed debbie the whole tape long!

          MY THOUGHT EXACTLY! Muscle takes up less space so you may weigh a little more, but you'll look alot thinner! (and ain't *that* what its all about, anyhow?)

            actually we would all have been shocked if you had posted you lost weight after starting your program.

            The human body is programmed genetically to react to a large sudden increase in muscle usage as an attack and danger around you ( cause nobody exercises for fun). Since it has no way of knowing if that attacking agent has left or not it will suoperhydrate the muscle tissues with fluids so it will be ready to quickly respond should that large muscle response be needed again. As the body learns that your new bigger load is now the normal load for those muscles it will release the fluids and you will get a big whoosh of weight lost. in the mean time make friends with your tape measure and watch the inches of fat yyou are buring off disapear!
