Great job getting 'er done, Eric! Those minutes will tick by soon enough. oh, humidity makes your skin and nails look so nice!

Talk while jogging? Gosh, I'm lucky if I'm able to breath.

Add me to that list too, Irish. I never would have imagined I would be able to jog a mile. I guess it's determination, or the fact that you can see progress with each training day you do with this work out. I also think it's just steady presistance and doing it (and a little bit of sweat and meanness, okay, a lot of sweat).

Week 6 is a doozzy, Bio. I'm proud of ya getting through it and brave to do it again. Just when you think you can't go another minute, it sneaks up behind you and you're already into 3 or 4.

    Okay, ladies and gents....

First of all...let me you all for still being here! I'm soooo glad each and every one of you are here----dragging your butt to post what you've done makes a difference!

My DH's suggestion that since I did what I did this afternoon, I might as well go ahead and call it a training day. I love it when he rationalizes things out to make sense for me....sometimes.

So, Week 8 Day 1 done.....but I OD'd on the minutes today to release some pent up frustration---it was a nice release from using up my brain cells. I can finally relax for another week .

    5 min walk....1/4 of a mile 3.5 mph
    45 minutes jogging....3 miles....3.7 mph

Did you catch that? Yep, I jogged 45 minutes AND 3 miles. I was wondering how long it would take me to jog 3 miles, guess I found out today. Yeaa!!

    What helped...maybe..
    1. I ate regular meals today...early in the day
    2. I drank my water like I'm supposed to, early in the day
    3. I loaded up my MP3 with my DD13s music....maybe some of her energy transfered to me. Wouldn't that be nice???
    4. I was frustrated and needed some release...maybe I should be more frustrated more often? Nahh....then it would be a surprise!

I guess I can stop procrastinating on getting that sign up sheet for the Turkey Trott, right, Bio?

Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go drink my water, take 2 IB Profin, and then consider going to bed.

Enjoy tomorrow if you're resting up for the week (I know I will) and remember to play hard on Monday!

Wow! Lisa gets an "'atta girl" for that report. Her post makes my legs wobble and my heart race just to think about it. Color me impressed! I think I'll turn in for the night where I can dream about running for 45 minutes OR 3 miles. Shy of a hungry lion chasing me, I am not ready for that kind of output...

That's awesome, Lisa!!!!!! I'm so proud of you! 3 miles!!!! 45 minutes!!!! WOW!!!!

I fully expect you to participate now in the Turkey Trot, Lisa!! There's still plenty of time for everyone to train up for the Turkey Trot (5k on Thanksgiving morning & can go by a variety of names) as our first public 5k fun run. It's a goal, anyway and you don't *have* to do it....it's just fun to think about us all running in the same event across the country.

Bio - While the thought of a debut run at Thanksgiving seems daunting at this point, I did confirm that a Turkey Trot exists in my neck of the woods. Can't promise it yet, but it's not a bad goal to aim for!

Despite my jellified legs from a 16-mile initiation bike ride yesterday afternoon, I managed to complete W2D1 this morning. I think I got in an extra lap for a total of 9, although it seems basic math skills go into hibernation while I run! I walked an extra lap just to be safe. I thought about a little mountain biking tomorrow, but I may need an honest day off for the legs to fully recover before W2D2. Good luck to everyone as we begin a new week! GO TEAM!

Aye aye, Captin' Bio, I'll be gettin' that form right quick....when the gal calls me back

Wouldn't it be fun if we ALLLL did the Turkey Trott together...well, the same day any ways .

Good, glory be, Eric! You'e just busting a move on those miles. Heck, with that biking and jogging you're doing, I bet you could do the next tri-athalon.

How did the rest of you girls do today?

            Week 8 Day 2 Done....
I did 1/4 mile walk without focusing on the minutes to warm up, and then focused on the 28 minutes of jogging, got those in, and then kept on jogging until I got in 2 miles, of which wasn't too much longer....Monday's are always tough for me to get back in the game.

Irish, do you have to wipe down your treadmill as much as I do? Or maybe I'm just extra sweaty, yucky when I jog...I have to go wipe down my treadmill....it's kind of sweaty, yucky

Some Turkey Trots have a shorter 1 mile run or a family fun walk. In all, it's *suppose* to be a fun time to exercise with family (or not!) before the big feast.

Eric--16 miles on the bike is no small feat! Way to go!!!!

Lisa, I agree with you about Mondays! Darn hard day without 5k training! LOL You're OWNING week 8. You're our inspiration!!!! I don't think you're extra sweaty...I may not workout on the treadmill, but I do leave a "sweat trail" on the indoor track after awhile. It has to be from me because at 5:30 AM, I'm usually the only one on the track! LOL

Irish, I don't know about having a conversation while running...my first priority is breathing! LOL Still...would be a nice goal, huh?

Today starts my second round of week 6. I can't say it's easier, but it is done! We dragged out our bikes from the basement and hubby will be cleaning them off for us. My plan is to start biking to work next week. I'll let you know how that goes.

Have a great Monday!!! Keep sweatin'!!!

Hey everyone! Well Lisa although I do sweat a lot I don't normally have to wipe down my treadmill.... However, people don't want to be in my line of fire when they walk by though... I have to put a towel on the floor near me because (SOO GROSS!) I have to spit a lot when I run...hehe. There I think we're even in the TMI factor, haha!

Week 6 day 1 wasn't too bad. Of course I get to walk during day 1 so it is do-able. Day 2 is Wednesday!

And I thought I was the only guy on this thread!

A rare rainy day in NC and I ran at the track anyway. Got in my 9 laps using my homemade iPod rain protector -- a ziplock bag!

Spit while running, I'm impressed, Irish, I don't think I have any saliva left after the first mile.... Check out that distance....you're doing great!

Your homemade iPod protector is great, Eric...need to remember that one....you got in 2 miles and a 1/4, right? Nice!

Bio---it's YOU guys who inspire me! Just when I think I can't even feel my legs go another 5 minutes, I think of all of you and keeping the pace!

Week 8 Day 3 done for me.

I'm not sure what I'm going to do next. Either keep myself at week 8 or just promote myself to week 9. Based on the time, I can technically jog 30 minutes (week 9's goal). I'll debate it some more before the weeked is out.

                    Play hard!

I with Lisa on the spitting....there's nothing left in me to spit out....it's all gone by the way of sweat. LOL

Tomorrow will be my last day of round 2 of week 6. I guess I must push forward--even though I probably could do another round of week 6. Why am I so fearful to go on?? Well, at least I know that if I struggle with a particular week, I am at least willing to do another round.

Bio---fear is just the knowledge that you understand the challenge that goes with week 7...you can do it! The time is the one thing that helped me get through week 7 (I can't remember if you're focusing on time or mileage)...if you know you can make it through week 6, trust yourself that you can do week 7.

I cleaned the truck today with the girls---that was exercise enough for one day because we detailed it top to bottom since we didn't clean it up too well afte we came back from our last camping trip...and we're looking into trading it in on a car (I hope anyways! We'll know for sure by tomorrow afternoon.).

                            Hellooooooooooo!

I just spent about the last hour or so catching up on this thread. You all are doing a REMARKABLE job. Kudos! Congrats! Way to support one another .

Yesterday, I had a six-week follow-up appointment with the Sports Medicine doc and I let him know that even though I haven't gotten back into running or clogging yet that I have walked and biked. He stressed that I should only pick up running OR clogging ~ not both right away. I'm going to start clogging again on Monday, but C25K is not out of the question. After reading through this thread again I just want to put on my running shoes, head out the door, get the lungs and heart pumping, and break a good sweat.

Once I'm ready to try it again I know that there will be others still on this thread and we can share our experiences together.

You all should be very proud of what you've accomplished. Keep it up!

                            I'll visit soon.

So I didn't get out of work until 2:30am yesterday. Needless to say I didn't workout today. I had very little sleep and I had to do a whole bunch of errands. I'm restarting Induction tomorrow and I plan on really UPING the excercise (that is unless my job burns me out....oh wait it already has......sarcastic chuckle). I'm supposed to finish week 6 tomorrow but maybe I'll be able to do that Saturday.
