    Re: Stoping the smoke addiction

Today I feel dizzy and constipated, I have take some olive oil to help me with this, and it work, after seveal hours, but I still feel dizzy, anyway Im going to put on my walking shoes and do some exercise, I hope to feel better later, I dont want to fail on my exercise challenges. I did lose 3 pounds this past week so Im keeping the good work hehehe

I know that a lot of people could think Im crazy to quit smoking while Im losing weight cause they think this could jeopardize my weight loss, but I think that its precisely the perfect time, cause I waited till I got my new eating habits, I clean my house from carbs, and had several weeks doing exercise so I like to do them now, I feel that need, so smoking was just not in my new way of living, and I was getting angry with the ugly smell and the cough or feeling breathless when I did some exercise. So for me this has been working ok, each day I feel better.

Something that I notice is that when I started Atkins I had a back pain, I thought it was the overweight, or the lack of water or exercise, then I started to do all of this, eat better, drink lots of water, exercise, I have lost about 20 pounds and my back pain instead of disapearing it started to get worse!!! so there was only one thing that I was doing that was against my health, smoking, so I quit and by the third day the lower back pain disapear!!! My insomnia disapear also, I sleep now at 11 pm when I used to sleep by 3 or 4 am. and this just in only the first days, Im writing down all of this on my personal diary so I wont forget what it feels to smoke and how my body is better without it. Ah another thing... my clothes smell delicious when I take them off hahahhaha instead of washing my clothes after half day of use cause they smell like ashtray, now I can leave them for the entire day! So its ecological! I save water!

    Have a great day,

          Hola, Rosa,

I am really enjoying reading your words about quiting smoking. I want to quit, I think about it all the time, and I think that with my food cravings gone maybe this is a good time. I am just finishing my first week of induction - maybe for week two I will gather my courage and just do it.

          cheers,
          Sue

              Re: Stoping the smoke addiction

that is how I feel right now, one part of me trying to fighting to explain that smoking is ok,and the other part saying that is all a lie, I have been reading the book Zarabelle sugested to me, and I laugh cause its so good to making you feel like an idiot when you smoke hehehe and more of an idiot when you realize its so easy to quit! but even with the reading I still sometimes catch myself thinking in a cigarrette, and start to say to myself, NO NO NO you dont need that! you will stink! it will kill you! you are doing this big effort to eat better and exercise for your health and on the other hand you have a cigarrette that is going to kill you anyway? NO!

Thanks Joe, Sue and ValidRouge, Im feeling better, although I did get some constipation and felt dizzy for a while, well I still feel dizzy, but I already fix the constipation and I guess I will be feeling better the next days. The important thing is that I havent smoke!
And Im planning to keep it that way... Sue, I decided to wait a month later after starting Atkins, and when I had 2 weeks doing exercise, to have new habits to substitute the time I wasted smoking, you will find out that the day will be simply better I wish you success!

              Thanks!

I am so glad to see you are still not smoking. Good for you!!

Just never think you can have just one puff... in previous attempts at quitting, I convinced myself I could become a 'social smoker' and of course, restricting cigarettes to the weekend/nights out does not work and neither does having just one/one puff.

                  Re: Stoping the smoke addiction

Yes Zarabelle, I have tried that before, try to just smoke when I visit friends or my family, but it was so much worse, today I have a friend reunion, where I usually smoke a pack of cigarrettes in a night, so it will be one test, I feel I have got the correct idea of what smoking is and its totally contrary of what I want for me right now. I'll tell you tomorrow how it went hehehe.

                        Re: Stoping the smoke addiction

Thanks Zarabelle!! hehe what a wondeful idea, Im going to start to think in new kinds of rewards for my goals, its funny but I used to reward myself with some "delicious" food, high carb high sugar food. I once read that most of the times, people with overweight do this, and it made you do a list of 10 things you would do to reward yourself that had nothing to do with eating, instead, trying to please our other senses, like your eyes, maybe go to the movies or buy a nice book, or the smell, buy a delicious perfume or soap, your ears, get some new music, your touch, getting a massage, I never did my entire list, it was dificult to find things that I wanted to do for myself, I think this is the perfect time to finish it and start practicing my reward list

Have a great day, Im feeling wonderful! ah yes, for the people that think that if you stop smoking you will gain weight? This week I lost 4 pounds!!!! more than last week! when I was still smoking
