I have many symptoms of pcos. My question is this "Is it better to get diagnosed by your ob/gyn or go to an endocrinologist first?" I've discussed with my ob/gyn and he wants to do a blood test to see if im ovulating first. I cant stomach getting my blood drawn too good because they always have to make 3 or 4 attemps to draw my blood and I always feel like im gonna pass out. So I would like to aleviate any unnecessary steps in getting a diagnosis and treatment options for this. Any suggestions???

Re: where to start?
Yes, I'm afraid needles are a part of finding out if you have PCO. Fortunately, you can have them schedule all the tests at the same time, so that they can draw all the blood at once. I've been to both an OBY/GYN, and to an endo. In my opinion, the GYN served me better. The biggest most important thing is researching and finding a doctor who is up to date on PCO. So many doctors are stuck in the Stevens Leventhal frame of mind...."just give birth control pills and all will be well" I'll never understand how I can access so much up to date info on the internet, and they can't seem to find any. HMMMM. Hope this helps.
