  • TOTAL Plateau! HELP!

    Hi all...
I need some help! I have been doing Atkins since Sept 5. SW 194.6. Continually lost 1-1 1/2 per week until January 3. CW 176.2. Then everything totally STOPPED! I haven't even lost any inches since then! I don't have more than 20 carbs per day (pretty much doing induction the whole time..on occasion I will have 2-3 carbs of almonds, but not everyday) I am 51 so I don't have ToM's, don't take any menopausal meds for hot flashes (just suffer through them!), take L-Carnitine with meals plus my multivitamin in the morning. Drink my water like a good girl and am now exercising 4-5 times a week (either walking or dancing around with Richard Simmons .) I am not a quitter and will NOT go back to my old lifestyle of eating the "white stuff", but I'm kind of disappointed! We are doing the Biggest Loser at work, and I am totally letting my team down! I tell them I'm still on my program and doing everything right...it's just that my body won't work with me! Any suggestions? Thanks bunches!

(pretty much doing induction the whole time

Start climbing the OWL ladder. For many folks, that is just what there body needs to get off the plateau, plus you need to be finding your CCLL. Induction is not supposed to be followed the whole time, esp. as you start approaching goal. You need to reach close to goal in OWL, and inch up to goal in premaintenance.

Congrats on your progress so far!

Thanks! I think I'll add another vegetable portion to my food intake!

        Hi and welcome!
I agree with Momtomany... OWL is the way to go. It often jump starts weight loss again. Don't worry... you still get to lose well on OWL, particularly the first rungs.
        Before and after:

Post what you have been eating, some times folks can see something you can't.

Sallyseachange: I usually eat the same type of thing everyday. I make a batch of a dozen scrambled eggs and a package of bacon on Sunday. I also make a couple of casseroles from Linda Genaw's induction friendly low carb recipes. My husband and I BOTH eat off of it all week...so maybe an egg and a piece of bacon for breakfast. Lunch is a small salad with 2 T.homemade Ranch dressing and a portion of one of Linda's casseroles. Dinner is another portion of one of Linda's casseroles and another small salad. Dessert before bed is a small portion of Linda's pumpkin custard or cheesecake. That's about it!

You've been doing this WOE for awhile! I'm not surprised at all that you haven't lost anything lately just based on the fact you aren't consuming enough veggies. From looking at your post, my guess is you're probably not getting enough fat either. Have you used fitday.com? I think it would help you tremendously! I bet if you used fitday and made sure for 2 weeks straight you got 65% fat, 30% protein and 5% carbs you'd see a loss. I'd also try to graze throughout the day. Get some carby veggie servings in early in the day. That also helps with fiber. I used to try to pretend the salad could be all of my veggies. Nope...doesn't work that way. Your caloric intake may not be enough for all of your daily activity at your weight. Again, fitday.com will help you with this. Try it out. You won't be disappointed!!

Thanks, Everlosing! I'll try keeping my food intake on Fitday. I have it on my computer, just don't use it everyday! I'll up my veggies and my fat intake as well! Like I said, I'm not a quitter, but I sure would like to be a "loser"!!!
