Hello, I am also over 50. I am loving this plan again. Other than the headache for the last 2 days. Today is better, so far. I love reading how everyone is doing. The hints on foods. I kinda feel like I am working blind when I read (read the book) in posts. I read as much as i can here and pray my book arrives soon.
I have lost 7 pounds of water, And I am a scale hopper. It is a bad habit, I know you can see 2-3 pound diffrence even over night. I am ok with that.
Water will be my biggest hurdle, I have never been a water drinker and I am doing better this week. I have not giving up my caffien YET! I wanted to get the sugar over first then the caffien will be next.

Wow, it's nice to see some new people in this thread because it was beginning to fade away!

The weather was nice here in PA today so dh and I went for a motorcycle ride to look at the beautiful fall foliage. I think it's going to rain tomorrow.

I'm having a salad with lettuce, cucumber, a radish, shredded cheddar and bacon bits along with some roast chicken for supper tonight. I just had a nice cup of tea to help warm me up after my ride.

Carole, thanks for mentioning kolbassy because I had forgotten about it, so I have it on my list for when I go shopping tomorrow.

We had chili for dinner....mom made the "regular" and I had Texas Chili from Linda's site....Linda's Low Carb Menus & Recipes - mine was just as good than theirs!! I made cheese straws (deli deluxe cheese slice cut into long slices and microwaved 90 seconds on parchment paper)....put a little green onion cut up on top and enjoyed every delicious bite! I saved enough to have on top of a couple Nathan's hot dogs for lunch tomorrow...Y U M!!!

Glad everyone is posting again ... it was hard posting to myself!

I woke up at 2:30 this morning and couldn't go back to sleep so I've just been reading journals and doing a little posting here and there for several hours. This has been happening to me a lot lately, waking up too early. Maybe I just don't need as much sleep as I used too, I don't know.

Anyway, I'm going shopping this morning because the cupboards are bare (Mrs. Hubbard syndrome?) I've been reading posts to get some ideas for something different to help me keep my calories down.

I've gained a few pounds since the end of blueberry season because it's a bit of a let-down every year when I go from busy, busy, busy to loads of time on my hands all at once. I still have the mentality that I have to stay in the kitchen to be able to hear the service bell and then I find myself snacking when I normally wouldn't, but that has to stop and I'm working on it.

I know I can count on you guys for help and support!

morning, it's pretty chilly here in the midwest, cold front - they were talking about snow showers tonight. I have a golf outing this weekend, so not too happy about that, but will be fun anyway!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

imagood - your dinner sounded so good, made me hungry - I may try that tonight!

Your body will let go of the weight slower when you get older Sunnyone.....it's a cruel fact of life and one of the reasons I originally started this thread. Unike men and anyone under 40 we don't loose loads of weight, we fight for each pound lost.

Oh Nyna I am going through what you are....not enough to do, it's been raining here nonstop since Thursday evening. Last night on the 10:00 p.m. weather they said O'Fallon had 4 inches of rain...we live on the shirtsleeve of O'Fallon so that's how much rain we're had also. It's suppose to continue raining through tomorrow afternoon....I honestly don't know where we're going to put anymore.

barnone -- snow -- really???? OMG - not this soon! When I lived in western NY we never had Halloween without snow - the kids would some with their costumes on under their winter coats!

Ok, it's almost time for dinner. Texas chili again tonight. I had 2 chili dogs for lunch (Nathan's hot dogs with 2 Tbsp chili on top and a little green onion and a few pieces of cheddar cheese shredded on top -- YUMMIE.

                      Have a great weekend!

Yes, it is getting pretty chilly here, too. It has been raining for days, cold, chilly, no sunshine! And they did mention that chance of snow here, too.

I'm not going to type this too loudly (LOL) but it's stopped raining......could we possibly be seeing the end of it? I can't believe it rained almost 2 straight days with no let up! It's 46 degrees here tonight and actually cold outdoors.

Mom and I went out this afternoon just to get out of the house. We walked around Walmart (it's big and you can walk a lot without people looking at you and asking if you need anything like at the grocery store). We did stop at the grocery store because I wanted to get 3 dozen eggs since we were getting low and I wanted to make deviled eggs again. I made them as soon as we got home so I'll have them for the weekend (I made 6 eggs).

It's time to get in bed and read some more of the DANDR .... I'm in the challenge to read the book. I need to do this to get my mind back in the right frame!

                          Have a good weekend everyone.

30 degrees right now - yikes! Rain and snow showers today, sunny tomorrow, rain on Monday I usually don't worry about the weather, I'm not a cold person, but since I'm golfing tomorrow - a little concerned. Just have to be prepared!

imagood - I made some great stuffed eggs yesterday, for my outing. I wanted to make sure I had a good breakfast handy. One of the girls told me they are stopping at Panera to pick up breakfast foods - that doesn't sound good !! So, I took 6 breakfast sausage [chopped fine]. yolks of 8 eggs, couple oz of mozarella cheese - mixed in bowl and microwaved. Piled the filling on the 16 egg halves. I have enough for everyone, but more important, I have plenty for myself! Also let my hub try one - he loved it!

Today, need to pack for my golf outing - along with the eggs, I made 'pizza' meatballs and stuffed mushrooms. I'm also going to make ham/cheese rolls for lunch while golfing. Now just have to plan my water and all is set. See you on Monday!

I have my book, plus one i picked up at library. I have read 9 chapters in the Dr. Atkins' NEW Diet Revolution book. I am assuming that is DANDR book that Carol is talking about. But i also checked out the Atkins for Life book. I will read both. I love to read and the more i know the better i will feel about my choices.
I was glad to get the book because i learned that part of my headache could be due to not going off certain meds.
I love to see your cooking ideas. Never would have thought about chile dogs YUMM.
I was very happy to find a no sugar or gluttin mayo at my store the other day.
I am just rambling, i guess i am giddy about this plan, and really hope to see myself thinner and healthy again. Thanks

Hey guys, I have a question. I've been doing Atkins since September 16/17th. I've lost 15 lbs, and I'm just estatic. What I'm finding is that even on induction, I'm not anywhere near the 15 to 20 carbs per day, more like 9 or 10 at the most. I'm adding everything, weighing and measuring to be sure, following it to the letter, and enjoying the 2 litres of water a day (can't do more than that but that's still really good). I'm just having a hard time eating enough to add up to the 15/20. I'm also a very deep dark purple, which is good too. Ok, now for my question... if/when I add more carbs, will that slow down the weight loss too much? I still have 75 lbs to loose, and I don't want to loose really slow.... but not too horribly fast either. I want to make sure I do this right, and for life, but I'm a bit lost as to what I do next. I'm still just discovering new recipes and ideas. It's not like I'm dissatisfied extending this phase. I'd appreciate any input you all may have. and thanks.
