Monday and a new day! Weight was up a little again- must be the cabbage and stuff- feeling bloated. My BP is down a little too low, too.

Being alone is good since I am now much happier than I was- but being "personally" alone is hard- just don't have anything to give anymore- I feel like I gave it all and no one cared. The CATS love me!

I actually DID put up my fiber optic tree....surprised myself! It is very pretty and colorful.

Looking for a new job- afraid I can not suffer through the low sales of current company again. I am not going to lose my home, the only thing I have left (WITH a mortgage) from 25 years of my life.

Yeah- a bit depressed today, but I'll make it! I always have!

Non -- I hate to hear you are alone this Christmas, but at least there isn't anyone there to spoil your time. I went through a divorce during the holidays - and remember the difference of emotion during that year. At least you have your home....I spent that year in a tiny apartment with paper thin walls, listening to the neighbors celebrating the season....talk about depressing! And YEA!!! the cats love you!!

I'm making another batch (3 small loaves) of banana bread to take to Des Moines this weekend...I already made 1 batch last week but this will guarantee everyone has a loaf to take home with them - this is very important to the girls since they are both on their own now.

We have a schedule of what has to be done each day this week....tomorrow I go see my Internist and Endocrinologist....hopefully I'll get some good news since I had blood work done last week. The last blood work my LDL cholesterol went up from the time before, so (fingers crossed) I'm hoping it's gone back down.

Ok, time to get up and do something! Have a great Monday and enjoy the week!

Morning everyone! Well, yesterday and today, I'm working 9-5, blah! Not used to full days. Any way, today I have to take treats to work, so last night I was experimenting with various recipes. I made a spicy nut mix, a pseudo truffle, the cheese "crackers" from Linda's website, and also a chocolate cream cheese "truffle" I found in a post on board here. The other recipes are from the Splenda website. SPLENDA

Everything is Atkins friendly, and I'll let you know how the girls at work like everything. Funny, my daughter said, "oh, you should make Chelsea buns!" I will do that for our family christmas maybe, or maybe not, since we're all trying to watch our weight!! Well, gotta get moving, have a great day everyone, see you later.

Fancy - hope your treats go over well...I'm sure they will. I have treat day tomorrow, but don't think I'll bring anything. That way I'll stay away from the table.

Yesterday went really well...I finally got up all my decorations and they do look nice.

Went out for dinner with hub, son and daughter - Outback, had the tilapia w/mixed veggies [very proud of myself]. Hub had 2 beers and the bacon cheese burger w/fries...and he wonders why he's not losing - grrr.

Busy day, but things are falling into place for the holiday.

Hi everyone -- looks like everyone is keeping busy! This year it's a real blessing to not be working....then the temptation isn't there all day long! We've been making some of our traditional candies/cookies and breads - more to bake the rest of the week. So far I'm doing real well.

Went to the doctor today (Internist & Endocrinologist). Good news - both were happy with my progress this year and my blood work came back the best it's been in 5 years....YEA -- FINALLY! I posted my numbers on my journal so I won't bore y'all with them here also. Needless to say I've been doing a happy dance since this morning!

Hope y'all have a great week!! Let's all stay strong, hydrated and Atkins happy!!

              Congrats Carole!

We had treats yesterday, table full of sweets. I did nibble on some cheese curds and bits of sausage, but that was it!!! Not one sweet morsel, I'm thrilled!

Well, I took my treats to work. I wasn't impressed by the 'truffles' so I won't do them again. But the nuts were great and everyone liked them as well as the cheese "crackers". They couldn't believe that it was whipped egg white mixed with Splenda and the spices, that flavoured the roasted nuts; and the manager asked how to make the cheese "crackers". She doesn't cook, so they were ideal for her to make in the microwave. Tomorrow's my last day at work till Dec. 29th, have vacation I have to use up. My DH and I are planning to get our shopping done Monday and Tuesday, then we can relax. Well...he can. I'll be cooking up Atkins style foods for our Christmas day brunch. We don't do the turkey thing any more, altho' I do love it. My pregnant daughter can't stand the smell or taste of chicken or turkey, so I'll have to check with her on meats to serve, besides the ones we like, that is.
We've been thinking of getting an artificial tree but haven't decided on it definitely yet. We put the tree up on Christmas Eve usually, because it's always been a live one. We may have to change that, if we get a "fake" tree. (Not sure I like the idea)
Well, I have to make lunches for work tomorrow, so everyone sleep well tonight.

                See you again soon, Suzanne

Way to go barrnone!! Bet you had fun and danced up a storm at the wedding

We ended up with a live tree again No one had any artificial trees that I/we liked, and there were very few live trees left, but we found one fairly close to home, which our daughter and son-in-law picked up for us. Tonight, I'd like to put up some more decorations in the den. I guess the tree will come in tomorrow. We still have a couple of people to buy for and tomorrow afternoon we are bottling some wine that is for our youngest daughter's wedding next October. (I like the wine to age.) Then I have to plan what we'll have for brunch Christmas day. Our son should be home tomorrow, and he likes to help cook so that's good. I want to do some more Spicy Nuts as well, they were awesome. Well, better get the decorations out...

                    See you all soon again

Wedding was fun; and I loved the dress - very comfortable! It was just a great weekend all around.

Ate fine this weekend, some little slips, nothing major. Now have to concentrate on Christmas - will do all my planning today, then shopping tomorrow.

                      Happy Monday all.

I'm also planning Christmas Brunch today, so I can shop this afternoon after we bottle the wine. Brunch makes it easy to stick to plan, and I don't do a lot of dessert stuff, altho' I may break down and make a pie for the others, we'll see. We'll also put the tree on the stand today. We did some more decorating last night and I've decided that if I can get out for Boxing Day sales, I will buy some new garland, the stuff I have is at least 25 years old and is looking like it. Now they have garland that looks so real, even like cedar branches, my poor "fir" garland is looking scrubby
                        Have a great day everyone!

I've been catching up with everyone while I was gone.....congrats on getting into your dress Barrnone!!! It's always nice to get into something smaller, isn't it! I love those cheese crackers and make them often....I make then when I have Linda's Texas Chili and float them on top....or when I make cabbage soup I use them like I use to use saltines and float them on top also.

I made sure we had a veggie tray plus a meat/cheese tray so there were things I could eat while we were visiting in Iowa this week. New Year's and Super Bowl are easy fixes! I'll make chicken wings, meatballs, veggie tray, meat/cheese trays -- pretty much the same thing we had on the treat table for Christmas. We had meatballs but chicken wings were just too difficult to take and make - even with a full kitchin in the room -- I just didn't want to mess with them.

Tomorrow is Christmas Eve....hope everyone is ready! Talk to y'all later!

Wel, old age has crept in and I've lost my mind again! It's probably still packed in a suitcase, or maybe I left in it Iowa!

Suzanne -- I would love to have a real tree but I'm allergic to them so we've had an artificial tree for years! I remember when I was pregnant, I couldn't stand anything that had feathers (turkey, chicken, duck, etc). I couldn't even sleep with my feather pillow and haven't since. I love chicken and turkey so it was really hard for me. It took about 10 years after to get back to being able to eat them -- thank heaven I can eat them now, because we eat A LOT of it!!

Ok - I think that's all I had to say....but who knows!! LOL

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a great Christmas!

I wrote a long post to this forum a few days ago but when I went to post it, my internet service went down. I hate this Hughes net!

Anyway, several of you were talking about the cheese crackers and although I've heard of them, I've never made them and can't find the recipe. Would one of you post it here for me? I would really appreciate it.

As for Christmas trees, I have an artificial one and love it. I've decorated it so often that it's a breeze, especially the lights. So that's my 2 cents on the subject! LOL

I survived the holiday but only just! I did eat some cashews and an orange that both came in a fruit basket we were given but that's not as bad as it might have been. How did everyone else do?

Linda's Low Carb Menus & Recipes

                                very tasty!

I did pretty well - not 100% by any means; but not feeling too bad about the whole thing [won't go into details]. I am feeling very motivated today; it was the end of the 6 week challenge and I did it. Not good on the weight, but down 6 inches; which is just thrilling to me. It just 'makes me hungry' for more loss!!!

Got the Wii Fit Plus for christmas, along with the Wii Step [I believe it's called]. Also, my husband bought me the new Stephen King book - I'm in heaven...it's going to be great weekend!
