Any 50 year old members out there?? Come on in and say hi

    I am no where near 100% -- yesterday the emotional drama in this house just got too much and I reverted back to my old self....."be careful what you wish for"......when it comes true sometimes you are the only one who is happy about it and after things aren't as "wonderful" as you hoped, the consequences aren't easy to deal with!

    I got up this morning, made a 2 egg omelet w/1oz onion, 2oz ham steak, 1oz broccoli and 1oz cheddar cheese with 1Tbsp salsa on top....I ate half and threw the other in the trash - When I get full I'm going to get up and get rid of it, not graze until it's gone - that has always been and is still a big downfall for me. I am drinking a 32oz bottle of spring water and just finished a cup of decaf coffee. I'll have a salad for lunch and ham and another salad & maybe a little broccoli or califlower for dinner.

    I couldn't do this as easily without Fitday -- once I got it set up for most of the foods I eat most often it's a breeze keeping track of everything. I haven't been exercising real well for the past week.....a few walks but the weather kept me from being out much and the ice made it less than desirable to walk. All excuses I know and as of this morning I am on record to make my life an "excuse free" zone!

    My food is on track as of today -- I'm going to get on the treadmill as soon as I post this and I'll add 1 extra 32oz water today also.

    I got 4 new beautiful sweatshirts for Christmas, have washed them and they are hanging to dry now....They are smaller than the ones I got for Christmas last year....I went through my clothes before we left and donated 3 sack fulls to charity - I don't want to be able to wear them again, so if they aren't in the house I won't be able to revert back into them.

    Bowl games start in ernest today....yea! I need something to keep my mind occupied and off everything. Hope everyone had a good Christmas.

      Back on plan, feeling much better physically and mentally so I'm sure that's going to help keep me on track for the end of the year.

      Yesterday was my 1 year anniversary joining ADBB. I actually started the plan on January 5, but I took those extra days to start incorporating the food into my day (trying out new recipes), getting use to drinking water and getting as much info about the plan as possible. It was a few days after I started that my paperback copy of the book arrived so I felt like I was flying blind for awhile.

      Hope everyone is doing well and will stop by and leave a message soon!

            I was sitting here thinking this morning and can't believe how my health and life have changed in the past year. I no longer get winded coming up a flight of stairs, I don't mind exercise and even though I though it was, it's not actually torture...LOL!

            My body feels much better also, my joints don't hurt like they did before, I do have aches and pains but not like before. My food choices are completely different that last year, sometimes I think I miss eating something but honestly, I don't. I've gone from excessive sweetner use daily to rarely using sweetner, and then most of the time I use 1/2 packet, not a full packet and find that sweet enough.

            I have been down on myself for not getting to my goal, when I was watching people around me loosing quickly then I decided maybe I didn't need to loose quickly, because I've always done that, then I gained it back. This time it's a lifestyle not a diet and my doctors are happy with my progress this year so why aren't I?

            Going into the New Year this is what I think:

            Positives:
            I weigh less than I did last New Year's Day so that is a positive.
            My diabetes is considered "under control with diet" so that is a positive
            I am stronger physically than before -- another positive


            Negatives:
            I need to stop getting mad at myself and letting people get to me (that may never happen but I need to get it out in the open so I can come back to it when I need to).
            I need to be more supportive - less "me" and more about others.

            Thank you to each of you for coming here and posting all the time, it's nice to have women my age to confide in and rely on. Also, thank you for your friendship, you've made my journey much easier to be on than trying to do this alone.

            I'm looking forward to another year of us all together -- good luck to all of us!

              Hi ladies! Hi Carole! I'm glad I found this thread. I'm 53.... been married 32 years and raised 4 kids. Now I've got time for me. I am looking forward to chatting with you all.

              I'm off to the gym now. I'm seriously into weight training and work out 5 or 6 days a week. I've been at it for 5 years now. It truly is the "fountain of youth"! I missed yesterday, so I HAVE to go today. I always feel better when I've done my workout.

                Carole - great post - I'm 'stealing' your idea...

                Positives:
                I weigh less than I did last New Year's Day so that is a positive.
                I found 'happy' again, it had been missing for quite a while.
                I am exercising, almost daily - that just amazes me!

                Negatives:
                I need to find 'tolerant'. I've been a little critical of those around me - and that isn't like me - I will be more tolerant in the new year.

                I need to focus on those things that I know will make me happier - focus on my house, focus on my work, focus on my family [outside of my hub and kids] - I still have those moments of wanting to hide, because I'm fat...need to overcome those feelings and get involved again.

                I need to focus on my health. I know that I am eating better and exercising more, but need to 'step it up' a notch. I tend to be lazy when I get home from work - read or crochet. I need to put more focus on exercise.

                Happy New Year to all - it's going to be a great 2010.

                    I'm over 50 but that's ok -- I have so much more experience than those younger than myself....that's how I like to see it, experience....LOL!!!

                      Happy new year to everyone! I must say, my 50's have been my best years so far. Kids are on their own, so I have time to take care of me. Hubby and I are doing fun things like dancing on Saturday nights and traveling more frequently. Also, I have more self confidence because I am older and have life experiences. Does anyone else feel this way? 50 is NOT over the hill!!! Anyhow, age is really a mindset. We can always feel youthful by keeping fit and thinking young. Learning something new helps, too.

                          My SIL sent this to me and I just had to smile!

                          With time, we gain weight because we accumulate so much information and
                          wisdom in our heads that when there is no more room - it distributes out
                          to the rest of our bodies. So we aren't heavy, we are enormously cultured, educated and happy.

                          Beginning today, when I look at my butt in the mirror I will think, "Good grief, look how smart I am!"

                                Trixie - I certainly don't feel like I thought I would at 50. I guess I don't feel that old not that I think it's old anymore. But, the body tells me different. Today I have a back issue. I think I slept too much over the weekend and my hip is complaining! Some days I guess I do feel 50
