  • Vent about Arbys

I was out shopping late last night with my kids and needed to get dinner on the run. I asked the manager how many carbs were in their wraps and said that they were all about 18 carbs and he went to look it up for me. Not great, but I was needing something. Well I only ate a couple of bites because I knew it didn't taste low carb. My husband ate it and I survived until we got home. I just looked it up and it had 48 carbs. I wouldn't have been mad if it was just my fault for not asking, but I asked him to look it up for me.

oh my! thats ridiculous! why would they call those low-carb wraps, when you can get a sammich with the bun at wendys and it has like 31 carbs? anything to make a dollar........

on a side note: before atkins, i used to get the bacon-ranch one...oh yummy!!! (someone pop the bubble above my head)

You know, when it is your own fault for messing up it is one thing, but when someone tells you a lie like that, it is terrible. I mean, what if you were diabetic and that much unexpected sugar had sent you into a diabetic spiral? Could you sue them? Hmmm, perhaps companies should be more forthcoming with the truth about their "low-carb" offerings.

That does kinda stink that the workers cannot even read the numbers right. in all likelihood, he or she figured you were looking for a low number and just gave you what you wanted to hear thinking you would never complain or say anything again to him. I usually just get the roast beef and swiss sandwich and dump the bread.....not the cheapest way to get coldcuts, but on the run, it works..

I always order the same thing at Arby's.....a regular roast beef sandwich without the bun, plain, with double meat. What you get is 6 ounces of roast beef in a container. Yum yum!!! I forget the carb count, but it's very very low. Once I went in there and the cashier tried to get me to order one of those wraps...I gave a big NO and insisted on my roast beef...then the wonderful manager walked up and said that those wraps contain way too many carbs for someone on a low carb diet. Heeheehee...

I guess the lesson here is to NEVER trust the carb word of someone who's not in the lifestyle...

Sorry you had to deal with this!!

Are you sure it wasn't 48 carbs, with 18 net? If they were that wrong, then the guy has no right giving out wrong information. He should have either consulted an Arby's nutrition guide or handed one to you.

They didn't have one to hand out that is why I asked. He went to an office to check for me. It could have been net carbs, but I'm not sure. I also wondered if it was 18 carbs for just the wrap and not the ingredients. I didn't check the breakdown on the internet. I will have to check now and see if it was broken down per item. I learned my lesson. Either plan ahead or stick to a salad that I know is ok.

Is this what you had, girlfriend?

                http://www.dietfacts.com/html/items/23597.htm

If so, the 48 carbs minus 30 for fiber = 18 net and the guy was right.

                You are ok!

That's too funny. I was looking it up too. Yes that's what I had, but I only ate 2 bites because it tasted too good to be low carb. I count the total carbs when I have something like a russel stover low carb candy because I think that it must still affect us. I only tried that once because it didn't settle well. Would you really deduct 30 grams of fiber? I guess I don't mind it when I deduct a few grams of fiber to get a net count, but I never would deduct that many. Maybe I'm selling myself short.

LC candy you should count all the carbs in. Something like the Arby's I wouldn't. Fiber is way different than the malitols and the damnitols.

Thanks for the info. I never would have thought to deduct that much fiber. I guess I just figured that I should wait until I was close to goal before I did.
