Hi Cleo! Well since you asked where we've been.. I shall answer

I've been busy this week visiting the family up here in unseasonably warm michigan. Today they threw me a surprise bridal shower!! It was so sweet I had no idea!! It was mad hatter tea party themed, it was too cute for words! They planned it all in less then a week too, since it was sort of a spontaneous visit (I probably won't be visiting again before the wedding, that's why they threw it for me so early)..

They did make a cake though, darn them!! But it was so cute, mad hatter themed, I can't wait to upload the pics (I forgot my darn usb cable for the camera!).. I didn't eat any of the cake though, but man did it smell good LOL. Luckily they also had plenty of atkins food... shrimp... ceasar salad.. egg salad.. ham and cheese.. spinach and artichoke.. devilled eggs.. Okay I DID overeat the legal stuff... but at least I didn't touch the cake or the cookies or the candy covered apples!!! It was hard to resist, but I did it!!

I'll probably be up a few pounds in the morning, but since I didn't eat any of the candy I should be back to business in no time...

Anyway that was my wonderful day, I feel so blessed and spoiled! I hope everyone else is having an awesome day!!

Tomorrow I need to work off those extra devilled eggs!!!

Re: Please Check-in. I'm getting a grey hair.

          Cleo

Hi, I've been reading and reading and reading though every single post - kept me up till 4 this morning, I want to cry everytime I see someones pics, it's soooo inspiring I can't get enough. I think I'm addicted to !!
I'm on induction day 3 today - the urge to get on a scale is overwhelming.. I read somewhere someone saying they don't want to miss the miracle after 14 days, so I'm resisting.
I felt absolutely horrible yesterday, and woke up this morning with baaaaaad stomach cramps, but after breakfast and 1 liter of water, I actually feel better.
I'm wondering if there's more than one of you actually, I see you replying and advising everywhere - it's wonderful. I get the feeling you're somewhat of 'the Atkins pro' around here, so I know where to go for advice!
Thanks for inspiration, I'm actually doing this thing, no cheating since I started. I miss my coffee though.. I'm a little unsure about the calorie counting, as everything here in SA is measure in kiloJoules, how many is OK for a day etc? One question - is green beens OK to eat on induction? Can't find them on the list, but I thought, since they're green, they must be, and I NEED the fibre if you catch my drift.. Constipation is a little problem at this stage, but I imagine it's gonna get a li'l worse?

Good luck to you and all today, the weekend has always been *difficult*, because we go out alot, take the kids for ice-cream etc. I feel strong today, I can resist.

          Bye for now then!

Yes I am, thanks for asking! Just needed a good night's sleep . You know, I used to get sick all the time before starting atkins and colds would last like a week! This is the first I've been sick in 6 months and it only lasted a day - I wonder if there is a correlation?

And welcome, Ninane, haven't seen you post before, glad you are here! For vegetables, have you tried spinach or brocolli? (remembering that they have carbs in them too, but you can eat them in limited amounts).. they were what helped me the most in the first month in induction .

Mary-Chan great story about your visit and surprise shower. How fun!

Brandon you WILL look amazing at the wedding, 101 pounds is just astonishing and think how much cooler you'll be with the next few pounds off before the wedding. The wife will be all over you in your new wedding finery and of course we would love to see you all dished up in the suit/tux deal!

Diva--ah holidays, aren't they fun, the staying up late, the parties, the food! SIGH, now back to reality eh? LOL!!! Glad you've had a great time!

Hi Ninane, welcome! WOW, kilojoules I think there's probably a converter someplace on the web if you really need one. Where is Nelspruit??

                Hi Debbie (babydreamer)!

I rarely venture outside the Fat Blasters section - time issues - but can I check in anyway????? You all support each other so amazingly. I need to keep coming in to be inspired as this way of eating is increasingly difficult to stick with. I keep asking myself why it's so hard to do something good for myself. I'll keep trying to stick with it - am really tired of being stuck on the 43 lb loss. I NEED to see 45 more than I need that cookie!

                  Teri

I just noticed the time of night (morning!) you guys posted replies - you all are a bunch of night owls! Me, I go to bed by 8:30 whenever I can manage it......

Good morning! Yay! More of you checked in! Thank you for helping to keep my grey hairs at bay!

{{{Mary}}} You're always so cheerful and an inspiration! It sounds like you are having a great time! I am so glad! I love reading about what you're up to.

{{{ninane}}} This board has a way of keeping one reading... I am so glad that you find ADBB to be a resource that helps! Please feel free to contact any moderator, friend, or cleo-girl if you ever need anything, ok? It sounds like you're doing GREAT! Green beans are slightly higher-glycemic so you'll want to wait on those, especially when they're canned. I'm sorry for the tummy troubles, but those will go away. Constipation will, too, when your vbody readjusts. Your knowing to up the water proves your prowess with this way of eating! Soon you'll be so thin we'll have to put rocks in your pockets to keep you from blowing away!

If your wife and I both have the sense to agree, we're both pretty smart women! Hello, Mrs Brandon! Mr Brandon is doing wonderfully! Thanks for all the support you give to our buddy to make him the majorly wonderful success he is! And I want pictures from this wedding! Deal?

{{{Teri}}} I'm so glad to see you! By all means, check in! We are family and it is good to have you here! And you're right. The cookie is the devil! *laughing* You will take off those last 45! I know it! I'm really impressed with you! You are going to be an Atkins poster girl!

I'm here! On track and all that. Difficult week emotionally, my brother has a spot on his lung that's showing signs of activity (he's had a cat and a pet scan). I'm not sure what that means exactly, but they're going to do surgery to remove it. My parents are upset, I'm sure he's upset (he's very private about his feelings) and sometimes there has been the mild temptation to turn to old comfort foods and behavior. It's not been a serious temptation, but it angers me old thoughts drift in so easily when I know better.

{{{goin}}} I will be praying for your brother and hoping it's nothing. Please keep us posted. I know what you mean about running back to those really bad old habits so quickly, even though every little bit of our being knows so much better! It is hard to undo those years and years of negative training and programming. Your ability to fight it, still, shows you are stronger than the need to feed the demons in the past. You've done so well! That's 66 packages of butter off of your body and gone from you forever!
