George will always remain in your hearts. The most painful part is knowing how it happened and there's no explanation that will give you and Chase any comfort right now. I'll be thinking about you guys for quite a while, as pets are just like a family member.

Remembering your good times with George is the best way to remember him. Can I suggest if you get another cat make him an inside cat, less chance for chasings to happen. Our 5 live inside, and I built them a cattery in the garden, which is connected to the house by a netting tunnel from the garage window. They go in and out as they please and are safe from cars, dogs (and small children! - we live next to a school).

Don't shut Ralphy out, as you aid, he just saw something and chased, basic instinct, not malice - but hard to explain to a child. I'm thinking of you all, every time I look at my pussies.

I'm so, so very sorry for your family's loss, Lady Hawke.

When I lost my fur babies, this really touched my heart. I'm sure you've seen it before, but I hope it touches your hearts like it touches mine to this day.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.
There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.
There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.
The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

Tamariah, what a terrible happening. I'm sorry sorry that George had to suffer in that way. Seems that Ralphy was just being a dog (one that does not like cats). I'm hoping Chase's pain eases each day. He loved his kitty. Would it will be good for Chase to be able to have a funeral for George?

I am so sorry for you and your son. What a horrible loss. I hope you can forgive your dog as I'm sure he didn't mean to kill your cat--he was just following his instinctual nature. Give your son lots of hugs.
Hoping that your hearts will heal with time and you will remember the joyful times you had with your cat, and not just his terrible end.

I just saw this thread. I am so sorry for you and Chase's loss of George. Ralphy being such a big and strong dog, he was just reacting to the situation. Just one of those unexplainable events that happen in our lives.

I pray for God's comfort to you and Chase. Only time can ease the pain of your loss.

Tamariah every since I read this a few minutes ago (I haven't been around so didn't know sooner)...I've been saying prayers for you and Chase to be able to forgive Ralphy and not blame yourselves for this terrible ordeal. I hope that the happy memories you have of your beloved pet can take away your pain.

Chase says he has forgiven Ralphy and even went up in the back yard with him for a while before - he says sometimes he gets mad when he thinks about what happened. I am just thankful he isn't holding it all in.
We are going to have a ceremony for George. We are having him cremated and I ordered a pet urn from collections ect. So that should be here in a month. The vets been great and is having Georges ashes put in a plastic bag and then a tiny coffin until the urn gets here.
We are doing better day by day.
