7 months ago me and the lady down the block would take turns going to my house or hers and ordering Chinese food.
She was in Florida for the winter and calls today, that she wants us to come over and do my birthday, which was in Feb,
Yes I know it was very nice and I appreate the thought. Then she says she will order chinese food and she will have wine also. I bring dessert.
I tried to explain to her, my sister, myself and the 2 boys are on a diet and cant eat chinese food now. Can we order pizza
(Chef Salad) No has to be Chinese. I tried telling her we are on a diet, no go. She wants it this Sunday and I can't do it on sunday,, Monday is school, so she is annoyed to mad now already, I mean my Birthday was in Feb. One more week isnt going to matter.
So I said ok to get off the phone, we will makea date for the next week.
I have been on atkins sense Jan 7th 06, I am losing sooooo slow, and I have been losing weight a little now.
I dont want it to stop. But I dont want to hurt her feeling,
My sister says I am making a bigger deal about it then needs to be, pretend your eating it she says. I guess i can order steamed veggies and meat with no sause.
But I never thought I would get upset over not wanting to eat chinese food.

Has she always been so inflexible? Maybe if you could explain how important your health is to you and your family, etc. she might be a little more understanding. I don't think you should compromise your wishes for hers. Ordering special from the chinese place is an option, but if you're uncomfortable with that, and want to stick to certain foods than that is how you feel and you have a right to feel that way.

I usually order egg foo young without the carrots and peas, or a meat and veggie dish with no sauce. My local place is great about substituting acceptable veggies for me. I ask them to stir fry it in some oil and a little soy sauce. Works for me. I'm sorry your friend is making this hard for you. It really shouldn't matter. She can still order what she wants to. Some persons don't deal well with change in there 'ordered world'. Sometimes when a person is addicted to eating, drugs, alcohol, etc... and they finally decide to change their lives it is also a 180 degree change for family and friends because they also have to change and maybe they don't want to. Steamed veggies, meat with no sauce at all, no rice or noodles or fortune cookies.

Sandi, if she is a real friend she will understand and be happy for you. If you are ordering take away tehn she can have Chinese and you and yours can have pizza. No problem with that, it's delivered, after all.
