  • I'm so glad I found the Century Club : )

Hi All, Just wanted to introduce myself to the Century Club! I'm a newbie to the board and am really excited I found it my second time around on Atkins. I have 215 lbs. to lose! My first "mini" goal is just to lose 20 lbs. by August 1st. That's when school starts back...I'm a teacher. Anyway, I'm on my third day of induction and will be checking the boards regularly.

Welcome to Century Club! Everyone here knows the past struggles we've had with our weight and we have seen the success of Atkins in small steps are in leaps. It is always nice to know you can post here and someone will respond to encourage you or answer questions you have!

      Best wishes to you.

Well, to be honest, I haven't done so great in this department. I've been away from home this week and plan on starting my excercise routine when I get back. I plan on doing "Walk Away the Pounds" or "Sweating to the Oldies" videos (good old Richard Simmons ). Also, I want to buy either an elliptical machine or the "Gazelle." Any experience with the "Gazelle"?

You are promised an awesome time here at this forum. These guys are super helpful. I've only just started here two about 2 weeks ago.

I've used an elliptical machine before at the gym. It's supposed to be better for your joints than a treadmill. I find that because of my size I'd rather walk for now or get in some strenuous activity like floor cleaning as my exercise. I've also been doing more standing and parking the car further away from places I go. Simple stuff that all adds up. My dr. recommended 15 minutes of strenuous exercise per day everyday. That's easy to get in just running around with the kids, lol.

Have you been to the dr. for a physical and gotten an ok to do exercise first? That's important and it's also a good idea to have your cholesterol and all that other good stuff checked out first, that way you have numbers to compare when all that weight drops off. ^.^

Yep, the CC is the greatest. I started at 285 and got so much encouragement, advice and support from that forum that I immediately knew I found a place that finally understood me.

Welcome to the family. Atkins works...I am positive proof of that. I hope you keep us all posted on your progress and stay active in the ADBB. I swear that this place and the people here are the ones who helped me make it happen. BEST WISHES!!!

Re: I'm so glad I found the Century Club : )

Thanks for the encouragement guys. I've made it through my fourth day of induction! Woohoo!! I'm going to need all the support I can get on this journey. Glad to know I have people to chat with that understand what I'm going through.

I'll definitely check out the challenges. Thanks for the tip. And about the physical...I have to admit, I did not get a physical before I started like Dr. Atkins recommends. I did have bloodwork taken about 2 months ago so I could compare future work to that. Exercise hasn't been a problem in the past, so I think I'm okay without my Dr.'s approval.

Anyway, I'll be here often. Hope to get to know all of you better.

Welcome Liz! Sounds like you're off to a GREAT start! Keep up the good work and keep us posted on your success.

The only thing I've heard about the Gazelle is that it doesn't have great back support. I've heard way more good though than bad. I'm sure either would be great as long as you pick something you enjoy and can stick with. (I'm still in search of that myself !)

Hey Liz! I found one of your first posts! This is so cool!

Are things a lot different for you than back when you posted this (before you got into the program as much as you are now)?

                        Keep up the good work!!
