no ...it doesn't....but I don't hink they are related...

sure you can lose weight with no exercise...it's just healthier to exercise.....also it relieves depression and makes you feel good (eventually)

as to why Liz exercises and isn't losing ....well it is probably diet related...it's not because she exercises...so there really isn't a connection there IMO.

but one thing we can all agree on is that it is FRUSTRATING to feel like you are doing every thing right and the scale doesn't move!!!

if it were me, I would do induction again then add foods one at a time until I find the culprit.

I didn't say Liz wasn't losing because she is exercising, I said she isn't losing despite exercising...hard!

So yes, there is a connection, if exercising is supposed to build muscle and burn fat, yet there is no loss. There is only so much you can say that muscles weighs more than fat, so her losses are being offset. I would think after all this time, she would have surpassed that point.

My thoughts exactly Chicklady... I know that muscle weighs more than fat, I understand that. I just don't see how working my butt off in the gym for several months (sometimes 2 to 3 hours/day) could NOT burn enough fat to offset the muscle I've gained. It just boggles my mind and it's SUPER frustrating. Thanks for your understanding.

As far as diet, Lori, I have been diligent about staying on plan. I didn't cheat even once over the holidays or since. I've increased my calories as some recommended, I've increased my water intake as recommended, I've cut out pumpkin thinking that was a staller for me, I've checked all my packaged meats for added sugars, I've tried eating more veggies, I just don't know what else to do. It seems like the harder I try, the slower my weight loss becomes.

Sorry guys, don't mean to sound so negative. I know this stall will pass. It's just hard to stay motivated when the scale isn't moving and your waist isn't shrinking. The support and encouragement from you guys is so valuable to me. Suga, we will get through this together. Just don't give up, okay. I need you!

.....Liz, Lori, Chick, and anyone else who has an opinion or just something to say on the subject, please feel free, you arent butting in. I am here as everyone is for help, encouragement, and support. I am measuring once a month and will again the first part of February. I am easy 150 pounds over what I should be or even close to what I should be so moving is difficult for me too Chick......I've quit smoking and it is still hard for me to walk without losing my breath but I do what I can. I can get a mile and a half in most days weather permitting. My diet ranges from 65% fat to 71% fat and protein from 25% to 30%, my caloric intake ranges from 1600 to 2200 most days and I drink so much water (a gallon a day) Im scared to fall into deep, deep sleep for fear I may not wake up in time...LOL. Im wondering how many calories y'all take in everyday. I know we arent supposed to count them but certainly there is a limit to how many calories we can take in and still lose weight, regardless of where those calories come from. I was so excited with this diet when I started 13 pounds in 3 weeks but since then no losses at all and in fact a 4 pound gain.
Im just so tired of being fat! I deserve to be a healthy weight and my husband deserves a wife who is going to live a long and healthy life.

Suga, I average almost 2000 calories a day. I've had some 1500's but I've also had some 2300's.I was averaging 1800/day until I joined the exercise challenge (WEC) Since then it's closer to 2000. Must be hungrier *shrug* ?

Suga! You are an awesome Challenge Participator! You swing by all the time and let us know how you're doing. You are getting your minutes in. Walking is a great exercise and 1.5 miles is great... you are doing a great job. Yes this challenge is about pushing ourselves to exercise and lose weight but it's also about helping each other along the way. We're all in this together! Heck if you're not a good participator then I'm not a good challenge leader cause I'm not losing either and I'm completely stumped. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the scale will be in our favor on Monday!!

By the way, how long ago did you quit smoking? I wonder if that could have an effect.

Oh, and I average about 2,000 calories per day.

You know it does make me wonder. I was losing weight so much faster when I wasn't exercising. In fact I stalled out for about 3 weeks with no loss.

Liz, do you think you might be exercising too much? Just a thought. Suga, do you think maybe you're not eating enough? Just another thought. Hang in there!!

I had no problems losing when I wasn't working out at all. Hmmm... I wonder if I should slow it down a bit and see what happens.
