Re: So who are you?
Dawn~ This is a FANTASTIC thread! You were one of the first people I looked up when I came back here! (I also have happily recognized a number of names - especially the pictures and sigs - from my first time around)
You were such a motivation for me! I look forward to losing weight with you again!
My name is Lynn, I'm 39, live in Pennsylvania with DH and two feline children. I'm a Marketing Engineer (I do a lot of business analysis and forecasting = I'm chained to my computer). I first followed Atkins from around September 2004 through March 2005. I was successful on Atkins, and this bulletin board was a HUGE factor!
I think my highest recorded weight was about 272, some time in March 2004 at a doctor's appointment. That awful 'Before' pic in my sig was taken in August 2004, and was the catalyst for getting me to the ADBB doorstep!
I followed a very strict, 5 month extended induction and eventually stalled out from menu boredom. (I think I started the first OWL rung just before I quit) This was entirely my fault. There was little variation in my menus. (I ate so many pork rinds, I will never be able to look at a bag again without shuddering!) I slowly regained weight until I got to around 265.
Last fall, I did the traditional low-fat/high-carb diet (
Yes, I know!), and managed to lose about 20 pounds, but those were such hard 20 pounds!
This past February, I travelled for business with a coworker, and while she wasn't following Atkins, she was trying to reduce her carb intake. This got me thinking about Atkins, and the success I had with it, and since then, thought about starting again.
ADBB was such a big part of my motivation and success, that I came back to look around. I saw so many familiar names, and was thrilled to see that many were still continuing to lose while following Atkins.
I've made up some menus, and stocked my pantry and fridge with Atkins staples. My coworker (from my trip) and I are going to start walking once the weather is warmer.
I am SO ready!!
Lynn
