    Hello fellow CC'ers - wishing you all a beautiful low carb day.
    It's the time again to join some monthly challenges - are you up for it?

    Since I'm going to be travelling not this but next weekend, I've been pondering and wondering and working out a plan on how handle it. I personally find travelling and low carbing difficult - especially if I'm not in charge of the cooking. Anyhow - I decided to simply move to the maintenance level during these few days and when I'm back home just kick start the WOE with a week or two of induction. So... what do you guys think? Is that a good plan? Or too risky to fall off?

    Good morning everyone.

    Hi Salima, personally you have to do what works for you. However, I do think you should try to stay on plan (at the level you should be at). Early on, tweeking this WOE can be a slippery slope to overcome. Either way, I wish you well and enjoy the travel. Are you going in where fun?

    What I know:
    1-Atkins WOE/WOL plan works
    2-I need to always work on the behaviors and triggers that make me over eat.
    3-Atkins WOL is part of the puzzle, but is not the entire thing.
    4-Self-deprecation only feeds our inner ego and not in a good way.

        Good morning Salima, Blue, Chick and everyone who follows. Salima, I would try to stay where you are. Are you staying with family or at a hotel? I think it would be easier at a hotel because you could ask for things to be cooked the way you want them to be. Try to bring low carb snacks with you in case you get hungry. I went away this weekend with DH and I called ahead asking how items were cooked so I would have a game plan when I got there. Good luck! Kathie

          I'm visiting a friend in the Washington DC area. First Night we're at a hotel and the following days at my friends place - however we got a lot of things planned to do and no idea what to expect food choices wise.

          I would still follow a low carb diet - however at maintenance level. I just thought it would be easier for me if I could choose from foods other than just the ones up to OWL rung 2. It's not that I have planned to indulge myself with illegal foods.

          Hmmm - I guess this is a tricky situation. I'm not too worried, that it could lead to turn my back on this WOE as I'm very determined and motivated to succeed this time with my weight loss and change of lifestyle.

          But I guess I shall ponder on this again. Thanks for your input

            Salima, it's pretty easy to make atkins friendly choices when you're out and about, especially in the US.

            Most restaurants will have some kind of low carb choice, or something you can remove to make it low carb. ALmost all fast food places will do a burger without the bun, most restaurants have chicken caesar salads or grilled fish and veggies. The main meals won't be hard, just make sure you keep some almonds or other nuts you like with you, I'll also try to find the lowest sugar content beef or turkey jerky as a snack in a pinch.

              Good Morning all :<)

              Salima I think you should PLAN to stay on OWL - you know the old saying 'Fail to PLan- plan to fail- If you have time now, pack some yummy treats for yourself, jerky, nuts, ect...) when you get there get an idea of what rest. you may be eating at and scout out their menus so you can be prepared when you order!! You have done soooo great, I garee a mini vacation like this could be very hard to come back from ( oy personal experience)

              But whatever you choose, have an AWESOME TIME, and we'll see ya when you get back!!

                Thank you Ron & Mom23kgirls - sounds very convincing to me.
                Nuts will be easy to pack. We don't have beef or turkey jerky here ... so I will look for alternatives.

                  Hey everyone! I hope you all had a good day. Salima, I would try your hardest to remain at the current level you are at in OWL. Good luck with whatever you decide.
