  • Walking

I started walking my dog around my neighborhood, i was wondering how far it is so i drove it in my car. Its .90 miles. Almost a mile. Im wonding if this is even enough to make any difference in weight loss? I am planning to start doulbling the walk, do you think this is gonna help at all?

Yup, you're doing great. I started doing a mile when I started Atkins and it does help.

        Motivation for walking

        Hello,
My name is Debbie and I am on day 3 of induction. I was wondering how you all get the motivation to exercise?

This is gonna sound like a commercial, but ..just do it.. I just had to make up my mind every day that I would exercise in some way for the day. I started with a goal of 3 days a week, one mile a day.. then after awhile, it was kinda like a habit.. then I increased..and now I exercise 6 days a week usually. If I don't, I lay in the bed at night, and feel like I have let myself down..That keeps me motivated!

                10,000 steps

I read an article about walking. Try to walk 10,000 steps a day. Today, to make me get out there and exercise, i bought for 8.88 a pedometer with a radio on it. My goal daily is 10,000 steps. they say walking is the best exercise, lets see. GOOD LUCK YOU CAN DO THIS!!!!!

Then get you a pedometer and join the 10K a day program of course that 10K is just for heart health they recommend 12.5K a day for weight loss.I've been doing the 10K a day since Jan 2003.

We have an ADBB pedometer challenge going with folk plotting their steps on the walk across America site I think it is called the penguin wantabies challenge in the challenge sections.
