I know this has been mentioned before, but.....
This is my 3rd time with atkins (always lost focus and fell back on bad habits). I am in my 4th week. Still in induction. I lost 16 lbs in the first 2 weeks and ONE pound in the next week and a half. I have not changed anything!!! Please help!

    Re: Stalling

For help, you'll have to tell us exactly what you're eating ... with quantities and net carbs.

And ... is it "that time of the month"?

      Re: Stalling

Having a short stall in weight loss after the first few weeks of induction is not uncommon. It generally works itself out if you are following the diet and just stick with things.

That said, you probably should analyze what exactly you are eating and how much. You may need a few adjustments here and there.

Posting a few days worth of menus could provide some feedback and insight.

        Re: Stalling

I had the same sort of stall in my 3rd and 4th week (extended induction). The minute I added the extra veggies things kicked in gear again.

But I agree, posting a sample day would help. I found I got a little lazy with the measurements around the middle of the 3rd week...

        Good luck.

          Re: Stalling

I always stall right after Induction. If you're doing things correctly, don't worry. It may help to have your menu reviewed to make sure you are. Read the Sticky in the FAQ section about how weight loss isn't linear. You're not always going to lose weight every week. Don't forget to measure either, often you will be losing inches and not pounds.
          Start date: 2/22/04 347/222/135 ~ 5'2"
          STAC Restart: 1/05/09
          306/229/135 ~ 5'2" 77 lbs down!

          Goal #1: 247 - 2nd 10% (59lbs, 247, also 100 lbs total loss) - Met 1/4/10!!!
          Goal #2: 241 - Halfway to goal! (106 lbs lost) - Met 2/21/10!!!

          Goal #3: 222 - 3rd 10% - Lowest Atkins weight
          Goal #4: 210 - Still on track!
          Goal #5: 200/199 - 4th 10% - One-derland! End year goal!

            Re: Stalling

            ok...usual menu:

Breakfast: 5-6 slices of bacon in AM, maybe a boiled egg
Large unsweet tea with 3 splenda

salad (1 1/2 cups lettuce, sprinkle of shredded cheese, sometimes grilled chicken/boiled egg, couple of tablespoons of cucumbers, 3 grape tomatoes)

            snack: 1 oz cheddar cheese

dinner: grilled meat, chicken or steak

(if I eat a smaller salad at lunch, I'll eat about 1 cup of steamed cauliflower or broccoli with the grilled meat)

sometimes a bedtime snack: 1 oz cheddar cheese

Drink equal. to about 4-5 bottles of water per day

(I don't go over 3 oz cheese per day and very rarely do I go over 3 splenda per day)

              Re: Stalling

I'm not an expert by any means, and have forgotten a little regarding induction. From looking at the above, overall it seems basically okay to me but I think could stand some improving. If it was me, here is what I would consider...

1 - maybe splenda doesn't agree with you. I might try cutting it out totally for a few weeks and see what happens, then experiment with adding it back in in smaller doses.
2 - are you using any seasoning or spices on the grilled meat? If so, do they have any generic listings like "spices" that may be hiding sugar or msg or anything else that might be holding you up? Is this adding extra salt?
3 - maybe the salt in the bacon is not helping. Cutting the amount down or subbing a different protein without extra salt or whatever they are curing it with could help. Is there sugar listed somewhere on the ingredients list? I might try cutting the bacon amount in half and eating the egg with it instead, or two eggs if need be.
4 - have you checked the dressing (assuming you are using one) for the salad for ingredients that might slow your progress?
5 - Looks to me like you need the veggies with dinner. Basically a cup and a half of salad for lunch would say to me I need to have another half cup to a cup of a vegetable with dinner. Personally I think variety is helpful - I would try to rotate through broccoli, green beans, cabbage, brussel sprouts, greens, cauliflower, etc.
6 - maybe increase the water consumption depending on the sizes of the bottles, especially with the added salt from the bacon.

Okay, maybe someone who studies the book more regularly than me will add their thoughts. This is just my off the cuff comments and from what I remember about the induction level. Hope it gives you some ideas of things to consider.

I really think your just in a normal phase of this WOE and not to worry. Its very common to not lose after a couple of successful weeks. Just keep it up and stay off the scale for awhile.

Out of curiosity, do you really measure cucumbers with a tablespoon?

I agree that you're not eating enough vegetables. Besides, iceberg lettuce is not very nutritious.

You're undereating fat. About 60-70% of your daily calories should come from fat... which I seriously doubt it's happening now.

You can track your foods in FitDay:
