  • Ketone????

    :wave When I had my dr. appt on Monday, my lady dr. had me get ketone strips. This is fine, but what do I do with them? I'm not sure what I'm looking for and if there is a problem how do I correct it?

    I called my DD (Dawn) and she said I should be in the small to large range. I just tested and I got a negaive. I'm going into my 4th week, my HRT is out of wack (waiting for lab work to come back) so what do I do.

    Thanks for any help.

    I'll let the pros help you out, but I do know that if you do the testing at certain times, you can get a false reading. I find that within 3 hours of a meal, I get an accurate reading. If I've had a lot of water loss (pee'ed alot to put it bluntly) I'll read low. Hope this helps.

      :wave That helps some. I drink a lot of water and needless to say, I stay in the bathroom.

      I'm still confussed about ketones, LOL maybe I need someone to draw me pictures so I will understand it.

        I'm surprised DAWN didn't send you to the FAQ section must bethose preggo hormones are muddling herthinking.

          Update

          :wave I went into the FAQ's and got the answers to some of my questions about ketones. I feel like I have dry mouth so I drink a lot of water and it has to go somewhere. Therefore, I live in the bathroom. I take it I am diluting the ketones with all that water.

          I'm still looseing weight and following the plan so I guess I can stop worrying about the color on the ketone strips.

          I have noticed I don't feel like I'm straving anymore, and when I eat I feel full faster. I still crave chocolate, but that's my curse and it always has been my curse. I don't want chocolate, I NNNEEEEDDDD chocolate!
          Luckily, I found the sugar free, carb free chocolate syrue.

            needing chocloate has to do with the neurotransmitters the chocolate minics in our bodies. there are other things you can use instead if you want to be choclate free.

            Yep pee those ketones out and you are getting free calorie lose. COol Uh?

            Appetite suppression is a side effect of ketosis and fats actually stimulate chemicals to be released when they hit the small intestine after the stomach opens which will cause your stomach emptying to slow down and the motility of the food mass traveling through the intestines to slow down too making you feel fuller longer. Cool stuff Dr Atkins snuck into our dieting uh?
