If you don't like meat, does that mean beef or all protein. Check out the cookbook cause there are some delicious recipes. What about eggs. What do you like. Maybe the folks can help you with menu ideas.

Thankyou,I like all meats fruits and vegies but I think the last time I did Atkins I wasnt very creative.I would just have plain steaks or scrambled eggs and bacon every day.I was just so depressed that I went to the extreme.I guess I'm looking for encouragment everybody here seems very supportive of each other and I like that.

        Re: Hi I'm new

        Hello,

I am new here too. I am in the second week of my induction phase and am not so sure how that its working yet since I had gallbladder surgery just a couple of days ago. When I mentioned it to my surgeon he was so blazze with his response "just eat less". Well, if you guys only knew how many years I was literally starving myself to stay a thin person! Limiting myself to a few carrot sticks a day or a bag bowl of air popped corn for half of my adult life. I was 97 lbs (could eat anything!) until I had my children, then came the problem of not being able to get it off. Its as if my metabolism was completely dead. I used to joke with my friends that walking past the fridge would make me gain five pounds!

Six years ago came the stressful job and a new boyfriend who loveeed to eat. I had no energy to cook, so in came a snack where I could grab one and the fast food. (we worked opposite shifts) One of his ways of showing effection was to bring me food instead of the single rose which would have been so much better for my waistline. I know I know I didn't have to eat it, but at that point I was in zombie mode working a job that expected too much and was very physical as well. You could call that emotional eating or just plain unconcious eating? I was depressed with my job and felt stuck because they paid me too much money to leave. Also had a year or so of prozac that helped me to go from 135lbs to 195lbs in what seems like a blink of an eye.

I have read two of atkins books and I have many questions because its been a couple of years since the first one that I read. The first is....am I sopposed to be counting calories during my first two weeks of induction? When do I need to begin counting calories? So far I have been strictly carbs, chicken breast, a couple eggs in the morning, steak, a little cheese. Its almost been two weeks and the scale has me weighing in at a couple of pounds more than when I began. (hopefully this is due to the surgery) Another question is what do all of these abbreviations mean? Such as "woe"?
This is my last attempt at a "diet". I've tried the low fat thing and it left me craving carbs bigtime....so it seems almost as if I have dieted myself into this weight. Also paid a bunch for a liquid protien drink only for my lips to swell up like goldie hawns in that movie where she had too much collegen injected.

I've been reading so many of your posts and am just in awe at how much everyone has accomplished. You all look so great! Any advice you could impart would be greatly appreciated!

        Thanks guys!
        Dawn

            Miss,

Well, meat is certainly a big part of the plan, but I am sure there are things you can do to make it more tolerable to your taste buds. Perhaps you could use tuna and other fish instead if that is more palatable for you. I love smoked salmon and tuna is very tasty. Do you like any meat?

Welcome both of you to ADBB! I know I have received many new meal ideas like Dawn's the bomb faux mashed potatoes or flax bread. This is coming from a guy who hates to spend more than 15 minutes on a meal, but likes to eat well. Sometimes it just takes a new side dish to rejuvenate one's appetite. Certainly hit ADBB recipe and Linda's Low Carb recipe site for her awesome annotated low carb recipes. They really help when you are stuck and want to try something new.

Glad you joined our virtual Atkineer family, and I hope you find this site as beneficial to getting you to goal as I have. Welcome!

                    Hi Miss_Muffet

Welcome to the crew! WOE, way of eating ... WOL way of life Most abbreviations come from some of us who've been here long enough to hate to keep typing all that out (can you say lazy, she says laughing!)

I'll second what Kent said about even a new side dish can rejuvinate your interest. Before all this I'd NEVER have eaten cauliflower but now, as my "faux mashed potatoes", it's my new favorite thing! So choose 1 new thing a week to try out and keep the boredom at bay.
