  • Non-Atkins Question for my friends

    Good morning All,
    I have a question for you guys. I know this is an Atkins forum, but you all are my buddies now and always have great opinions on things. I have an anniversary coming up, 15 years, Yay! Hubby and I are planning a nice evening away. A night in a hotel and awesome dinner reservations. I would love to get him something special. Any ideas? I want to spend between $50 and $100 at the most. Opinions from you men out there would be great, too. Thanks in advance!!!

    1st goal: 139 (earlier weight)
    what the rungs mean to me:
    rung 1 - more veggies
    rung 2 - dairy (some milk in coffee)
    rung 3 - seeds, nuts (mostly sprinkled on salads)
    rung 4 - berries, melon
    rung 5 - wine -
    rung 6 - beans, hummus
    rung 7 - other fruits
    rung 8 - carrots/ potatoes (nah, prolly not)
    rung 9 - whole grains (fresh Dutch breads...)
    Major Goal - 128 lbs/ healthy range
    (on to pre-maintenance)

    hmmmmm...What are his hobbies/interests? Maybe if we can come up with something that would go well with them...

    Or how about a nice watch or a bottle of cologne?

    (I'm really boring, I know! LOL)

      I know, I thought of that, too. He got a watch last year and is getting cologne for Christmas.

      They are good ideas, though. He is really into high end stereo equipment and cars. Hmm, that leaves me with no ideas. He just got us a new wedding set, though, so I wanted to do something nice for him.

        Shannon,

        I don't know how crafty you are, but I was thinking that you could make a collage of your lives together over the last 15 years. All you would need is a piece of cardboard (the size of a frame), a frame, the photos and some tacky glue. You could make a memory for him and then take it somewhere and get it framed or do it yourself and then he could have it on his desk at work. It might not cost much, but the memories would probably make him mushy.

              I like the memory idea. I made a memory book for my hubby's 50th birthday, but that took almost a year to get everything.


              How about something totally off the wall? A fantasy. For example: My fantasy is to see my hubby in some chaps... and nothing else. Men go for this stuff. Whether it's your fantasy or his, do something that will make sparks for you. I love anniversarys because it's the one time of year you can get away from the kids, jobs, etc and totally let yourself loose!

                My hubby is a Food & Goodies type of guy, so I like to get him something from www.gevalia.com . They have lots of coffee baskets w/ goodies and themes anywhere from $20 - $200. He's not really on Atkins so he'll eat the goodies and I usually order the decaf coffee or tea so I can have some - usually have some pretty cool mugs in there too!
