    The Scale Makes It's Return!

Hello STACers, Tomorrow marks the return of the scale! The end of the "No Weigh" Challenge..How bout that.

I was wondering if you are surprised with the results...Did you find your self struggling all the time? Did you cheat and Weigh? Did you start to feel free of the emotions that scale cause??? Hmmmm that's a good question. Did you start to feel a sense of well being!!!!

IMHO, I think you can actually thrive alot more away from the scales. If you are doing your Atkins the best you can, there is nothing you need to change and the scale might be something you need to keep at a distance...I mean what can you do about it.
I was reading a STAC member's STAT's Journal and she remarked about how much better she felt when she was not watching the numbers each day.

They may be back, and I will step on them tomorrow, but NOT AGAIN TIL Nov1...to see if I lost the 5lb I was challenged to, by myself!
But even there, I could only do as much as I did...I never missed a chance to exercise and I ate legal foods and drank al my water!

Hope you guys can keep the scales in the right place in your life...For some the scales really trouble you...and others are not that bothered...Me, I am staying away, I like it when I just "feel thinner"...

Re: The Scale Makes It's Return!

I didn't think I could survive 2 weeks.. but I have! I dunno if I'll go 2 more weeks.. but I just might, depending on the results this time around.

I felt free... I felt my focus shift to enjoying life and not noticing what was fatter because the scale said SOMEWHERE I gained a pound or two. I didn't wake up in a good mood and have that altered due to a number - which can easily change depending where I stood on the scale! argh!

I'm excited for tomorrow morning. I know I gave it my best.. so whatever it says.. it says! That's how my body reacted to atkins foods, water and exercise THOSE two weeks. It may do better or worse the next time I take a challenge. But ya know what? At the end of two weeks the scale is still gonna read the same if I step on it once in two weeks or 14 times in two weeks. Nothing is gonna change that ending number! Light bulb moment! In that time span it is up to me to eat right, drink water and exercise.. AND LIVE LIFE!

I cannot wait to see everyone's reports! I'm not anticipating any specific number.. I'll just accept whatever it shows

Re: The Scale Makes It's Return!

Sunday morning. I have good news and bad news about the scale...
the good news is a I did loose weight...the bad news is, I was scared all night, had bad dreams, checked the clock 3 times wanting to get up and weigh. I got up at 5 and went in to the bathroom, emptied out and got on the scales...I was anxious (sp) what if things did not go well? What if I was disappointed and had to over come that emotion today?
Caitlin is nervous too, and if she has not lost, I can be very upset by that too. We are doing everything we can already, and have accept it. We also agreed not to weigh again...til Nov1. We both are moments away from TOM. So she is already saying it, "I am not expecting much, I am about to get my period"...she is preparing for disappointment.
That's it! We are going to keep enjoying how clothes feel, and how thin we are feeling we are getting...numbers are very hard to face and over come when they don't agree with all the hard work...
My news was wonderful this morning, but the scale had to dictate that news, and i felt a foreboding...That's crazy!!!
I dare all of you with a similar problem, to NOT GO BACK TO DAILY ADDICTIONS TO THAT SCALE...I challenge you to limit the number's voice...
Let your body speak, let your clothes speak, let your sense of wellbeing speak!!!!
Rachel I can't wait to hear back from you on all of this.

Re: The Scale Makes It's Return!

I made it! *shows off new graphic in signature*

I don't think I was ever really tempted to cheat. I wanted to weigh, but then remembered I couldn't, and continued with what I was doing. I did measure myself a couple times over the challenge though.

There were a couple times when I found myself in my bathroom, staring at the floor. "What am I looking for?" I'd ask myself. "Oh yeah. That thing." I'm sure if I hadn't put the scale in the closet, I'd have stepped onto it without even thinking. It's that automatic to weigh myself.

I do feel much better for not weighing though. When the scale is there...I just need to weigh. It's like popcorn! I can't leave it alone. Everytime I eat, drink, exercise, go to the washroom, clip my toenails, take off my make up, brush my teeth, whatEVER...I need to weigh (Did that make a difference? How about that? That?). If nothing else...it took a lot of time. I'd have to weigh. Reset the scale. Weigh again. Three times the charm? No. Maybe four. Still no change. What if I leeeean back? GAH!!

When the scale is in the closet...that's just a pain in the butt to haul out and use. It's not worth it.

And after two weeks...I could actually SEE a difference! If I'd been weighing six zillion times a day, always up and down and up and down a couple hundred grams, I don't see that I'm actually down 3 kilo overall. I just see that there's no real difference from the last time. Or worse...a gain!

So I weighed today. And had a had a bit of a think. And a bit of breakfast. And then I wanted to weigh again. RIDICULOUS!

I put the scale back in the closet. See you in another two weeks!

Re: The Scale Makes It's Return!

The longer the morning goes, the more I return to my mantra, "I can't control when my body sheds pounds, I can control what I eat, drink and how I exercise"...
I can't control weight loss, my body does that. I can control food choices, food amounts. Water consumption, and exercise expended and intensity of the expenditure!
I can control how faithful I am to the program. I can control where I go and what I allow to influence me...But I cannot control when my body will release the accumulated fat stored on my body...
I am doing all I can on my side of the table...I have to trust my body to release my fat in it's healthy timing. It's not a race people, we are not going anywhere, we are staying right here on this way of life. Put the scales away again, and live. Focus on what you can DO, and let the timing come...
You might say "LOOK at your numbers! 83 days 33 lbs..." But I say, "Look at my dear daughter's numbers, "83 days and 16 lbs." I could easily get tripped up, bummed out and struggle all day long over her VERY VERY SLOW LOSS...But we put the scales back away and accept our bodies have a time table that works best for them...Trust, trust the longevity of the program...CLING TO THE PROGRAM not to the NUMBERS>

Re: The Scale Makes It's Return!

Is nobody reporting their losses??? Or did yall post that in another thread??

I actually slept in a bit, started my Sunday routine and THEN realized I could weigh in! Hubby left to go hunting and I didn't get him to measure me so I'll do that when he gets back.

I had a light bulb moment yesterday - In two weeks the ending number is going to be the same no matter if I get on the scale every day, every other day or once in 14 days. I'm like Curvee.. weighing before and after EVERYTHING - mostly because seeing a new number on that scale is good. I see it IS lower than before and that makes me happy. What doesn't make me happy is when that number starts changing; going up! I had a lot of problems with being out of ketosis for a month and put back on 5 pounds! So I had that to lose all over again and that made me madd! I dont' want to work on the same weight over and over. So I took on the exercise challenge and then I took on the no weight challenge - all with success. I'm seriously thinking of putting that scale out of my mind for 2 more weeks and really challenge myself and push hard for another two weeks! Gosh, sure is different than the old Rachel LOL But it's such a better place to be in when the scale does not rule your life. Plus, I'm beginning to like challenging myself

Re: The Scale Makes It's Return!

Morning fellow STACers, I posted as well in the Weigh, No Way support thread, but I was excited, so I'll post here too. I actually did not sweat the scale for the two weeks I had to wait. Everyone kept asking how much I'd lost and I said...I'll tell ya on the 22nd! The anticipation of wanting to weigh never got strong enough to even think about cheating. This morning, I was a little scared actually to get on the thing. So, I stepped on and then off again, and then put my glasses on and stepped on again. I've lost 8 pounds. I did my little happy dance down the hall and came straight to the boards. Congrats to all of you who also went scale-cheat-free!

I reported in the challenge support thread, but I don't mind repeating myself.

                I lost 3.4kg! I'm thrilled with myself!
