  • Is it just as effective???

I have started and restarted this WOE about 6 times since December!! I haven't lasted longer than 5-6 days and then I go back to eating what I want (mainly due to stress!!). I know when I commit myself to something I am very successful so I guess I need to do just that.

Since I have never gone past 5-6 days and completed the full Induction period, will I still see the same results as someone doing Atkins for the first time?

I am 5'2" and weigh 136lbs...goal weight of 106 lbs so I would like to lose 30lbs by April 1...is that possible?

    Thanks for listening!!

    Malikah,
Everybody's body is different, and yours may loose exactly like you want it to or it may go a bit slower, since you only have 30 lbs to loose, and those may take their time based on how your body thinks and acts. It's the ONE part we can't control, when and how our bodies will release the extra weight! WE can control what we eat and our exercise and the water consumption that is critical to our success.

I would "GET COMMITTED" because beyond weight loss, the big BENEFIT of this diet is ketosis, and in ketosis, your body will burn it's own fat storage for fuel. It takes 3 days to get into Ketosis, and once you are there, your appetite should diminish, your energy should begin to really soar and your cravings will subside. After 2 weeks your body will be in a great place, and you should feel good enough to go.
For those of us, grossly overweight, these 2 weeks bring a big weight loss, but beyond that, we break free from so many sugar-symptoms, fatigue, moodiness, cravings that rule our life, a sense of never being satisfied, and we just eat and eat and eat...We are too tired from all the foods to exercise and many of us live off of diet pop and caffiene for energy, with is FAKE, and it's a terrible cycle and we are most of us, addicts... Atkins slowly releases us from this cycle. This diet becomes a long term way of life, as we find our bodies calming down for the first time in a very long time! It's like a miracle.
I would suggest you go for a full clean induction! Look at your body and mind as you go thru and decide if you are addicted to carbs, and if you do indeed feel better at the end of the 2 weeks. Read the book: Dr ATkins New Diet Revolution. It will explain in depth what is going on in our bodies, and how we need to go thru the 4 phases of this diet to achieve the long term success, instead of the short term, weight loss for a special occasion.
I hope I've been of some help.

      Outback Jess,

Thanks so much for your kind words of encouragement!! You look great and look forward to the same success as you!!

Did you exercise during Induction? What foods did you tend to eat most?

      Thanks!

Malikah once you get to day 5 you have done the hardest part. Induction flu should be over, ketosis should be in full swing and you should feel less hungry and have more energy. But since for some reason its hard for you to get past that point I think maybe next time you try make a deal with yourself to get through days and 5 and 6 and maybe reward yourself with a new cd, or dvd, or hairstyle, or something! That seems to be your psychological sticking point and once you can get through those days I think maybe the rest will be a lot easier for you. Good luck and hang in there!
