  • STAC Rollcall ~ Monday 12/21/2009

    weekend was great!! Wedding was fun and I felt good. Plus, my son is now engaged!

    Looking forward to eating well today. Yesterday was our big 'cookie bake/exchange' and didn't have regular meals. Ate ok, nothing too bad - and not one cookie! So, need to focus on food/water today - and plan for the week.

    I'm making brownies for everyone for Christmas in gift baskets and I'm thinking I'm gonna put duct tape over my mouth while I cook them so I don't eat any... (brownies are my weak spot)...

    Other than that I'm doing very well!

    I had TGI Fridays last night though, and I had French Onion Soup with no bread in it, but I still think that was carb-loaded... because right after I ate it I had a uncomfortable feeling in my stomach and then this morning I gained almost 2 lbs. when I've been steadily losing up to this point...

    OH WELL!

    Today is a new day!

    And, I'm not going anywhere!

        Good morning everyone !

        Congratulations to you and your son Barrnone. I'm glad you were able to attend a celebration like that, have a good time, and stay on plan. Isn't it wonderful

        You're brave plsmachic, I couldn't do the brownie thing right now, no way. I'm not "craving" them or anything, but if they were right there under my nose with fingers and spoons to lick Good attitude about the soup. I know how frustrating that can be. Just make the next bite the right one.


        And I'm back home after a very 'trying' visit with my best friend. We may have been best friends for 43 years, and it may be Christmas week, but after about an hour and 1/2 of hearing how "bad" my WOE was, I was ready to kill her. I finally exploded with ..... It's so bad I've lost 31 pounds since the middle of August, My blood pressure has dropped from 142/95 to 102/74, and my blood sugar has dropped from 126 to 102 !!!! I got the response of, that's good but....
        I love her but I wanted to choke her... . ....and yes, she needs to loose about 30 pounds ...

          Here, and on plan. I just say I'm on a no sugar, whole foods diet - you know like fresh meat and fresh vegetables. =)

          Funny how you say that, and they accept it as smart and healthy. But if you say you're on Atkins they flip.

            KntryLady - yeah, at work I had a waitress come up to me and say, "Ha! My lady at my table said she's on a "DIET" but she wanted her broccoli steamed only with a side of melted BUTTER and a steak?! Yeah, nice diet."

            I said, "It is a great diet. That stuff won't hurt you or make you gain weight, it's Atkins, I'm on it too."

            She said, "I'm sorry, but butter turns into body fat as soon as you eat it, that's not healthy."

            I said, "No, it doesn't."

            We began to "discuss", she said her doctor told her it did, I said go research it for yourself... she kept arguing... I smiled and walked away thinking 'she can tell me how unhealthy eating like that it when I'm a heckuva lot smaller in a couple months and she's still tubby telling everyone how SHE knows what's healthy...'

            Ignorant people never cease to amaze me.

            I actually had a girl at my old work tell me, and I QUOTE: "Atkins is the most dangerous thing you can do to your body! You know how it works right?! It actually rearranges your insides, like your organs, and when you come off your body is messed up forever."

            I couldn't even respond to that one. I was floored anyone could be that stupid.

              We get negative comments from people because they cant accept the fact that theres a diet that allows you to eat FAT!

                And I so understand that argument. I belong to Kaiser Health Insurance, and they put me through a Low Fat/No Fat program about 15 years ago. I am happy to report that even though they are not as low as Atkins, they are more in line with a controlled carb plan now, with no added sugars where ever possible.

                And Rayjax, don't you know that you HAVE to get a large portion of grains in your diet in order to get fiber Yes, that was part of the argument too...

                I think you nailed it Sham. They were So Brainwashed during the low fat/no fat craze, they can't accept anything different... even if the country is fatter now than ever before.
