  • What motivated you?

What is the one thing that really helped keep you focused on staying on Atkins?

I mean, I have read so many people saying they hit plateaus and they couldn't go without carbs etc....what was the thing that helped you surpass those things and helped you lose your weight?

Simply, I feel great, better than any other program I've followed. I have control over my eating. Cravings disappeared after a few days. I don't need all those carbs. I know the difference between hunger and just wanting something to eat. I find this food plan easy to do.

Sure the weight loss fluctuates but as long as I follow the program it really doesn't bother me (so far)

        Thank you

I like hearing what motivates others because it makes me realize what I am doing this for, that my reasons may not be as bad as some or as easy as others...

Just a snap back into reality for me..thanks for replying.

P.S. Yeah the before picture and the after picture...You are an amazing woman! Way to go!

Hmm....The thing that motivates me the most and keeps me on the diet would be looking at the scale every day ( I know, I shouldnt, it's a habit! ) and seeing it go down..i dont have many stalls for some reason. my weight loss averages out at about 1-3 lbs a week. Also hearing people tell me how good i'm looking nowadays is a big motivator :yes

I think about what's more satisfying: eating something carby and enjoying the flavor for a minute, or ultimately losing my weight and gaining back my self esteem? Hmm, let's think And my before pictures are heinous, too, and that helps. Those things have worked - I've been doing it since June and haven't cheated.

                Well

Whilst in the middle of the big part of my weightloss I set myself other goals to achieve, so I wasnt constantly focused on my body all the time.

I took part in a 10k funrun with some of my students.

I sat 2 computing exams, one of which I should have done a years study for and I did all the coursework and sat the exams in a space of 3 weeks!!! Yes I did pass with merit ....

Keeping myself busy was definitely what kept me on the straight and narrow.

This term I started teaching computing and have set myself the goal of making sure that 100% of my students do their course work, even if they dont manage to pass their final exam. That ones going to be a toughie.

I never want to feel that embarassed in my life again! I felt frumpy and old even though I'm still 16 in my head.

Atkins has been such a gift. While I still have to deal with my desire to eat when I'm not hungry, I'm not tempted to eat inappropriate things. That's FREEDOM!

Well, this summer I hiot 250 pounsd and that motivated me to start. Also the fact a lot of people just didn't talk to me much anymore. Not my friends, but strangers just seemed to look past me like I wasn't there anymore.
My big motivator now is people. Friends are always saying how much i have lost and how good I am looking. Everyone has been so positive. my husband has been especially proud. Tells me daily he can see a change even if he eally can't. It does mae me feel better. And yes strangers seem to be being nicer. Maybe I am feeling more confident and that is part of it.

I love the move Ever After! We watched it so many times we wore it out.

I felt frumpy and old even though I'm still 16 in my head.
I agree with this 100%. I am so tired of "old lady clothes" and never wore cute clothes.

My motivation? Several things. I'm in constant pain from leg, back and shoulder and have been told "if you lose weight the pain will go away. I am tired of the injections and medications. And, there is a good chance my husband will be laid off before too long and we will lose our insurance, so no more injections and no more medications.

Another reason is family health. Diabetes and heart problems are scattered liberally on both sides. At the last reunion I'd gone to I noticed how HUGE most of my relatives are. My great grandmother lived until she was 103 and she was slim. I want to be like her.

I don't even need motivation LOL. (although I have loads)

What keeps me going is because I have been on harder diets, lost less weight and was bored, hungry and tired of not seeing the scale move.

I haven't eaten this much and been so satisfied for almost 20 years!!! And the weight feels like it is melting.. even though it is as slow as it gets.

I am right on track to hit my goal for my 40th birthday April 6, 2005!! I can't wait to pick out an outfit for my 'After Pic' LOL

Another girl in my office did it so I decided to give it a try after she lost 50 pounds. I stayed on induction for a little while and went to the store to try on a pair of jeans. There I was crying in the dressing room that I was wearing a pair of juniors size 15 jeans- I hadnt worn those since I was in middle school. That is my motivation; to freak the store owners out every time I go into try on pants because I cry in the dressing room :icondance .
