6 years ago I was diagnosed with a fatty liver- AST/ALT at least 2x-3x of normal. Using a low fat (but also low-sugar/starch) diet that my doc prescribed, over the course of a year I was able to get my enzymes closer to normal, but I never was able to get them perfect... Even after losing 50 lbs.
Naturally, I gained all the weight back, plus 20 lbs. 1.5 years ago, I had my levels checked, and they were back up to where they were.
In February '09 I started Atkins. I've lost 36 lbs to date and I just got my ALT/AST levels back and... drum roll.... They were well within normal range!!!
I wanted to call my old doctor up and advise him of the much better progress I made in half the time on Atkins as opposed to his recommended government-approved diet.
Long story short (too late!): ATKINS WORKS!
