Re: This may be a stupid question.......

You get a set of standard cooking measuring cups (you can find them in the cooking utensil area of most stores). Then you put the vegetable material into that.

If you use drinking cups, you may not be getting an accurate measure. Drinking cups vary anywhere from 6 ounce (3/4 cup) to 16 ounce (2 cups) capacity. This might not a be a "big deal" with a very low carb vegetable like lettuce or spinach, but higher carb vegetables like tomatoes, onions and spaghetti squash are about 5 net carbs per 1/2 to 1 cup.

Re: the picture...you need to put [img] in front of it and then (with the same brackets) /img after it in order for the picture to show up.
When it does, just check the size that it's not so big it makes people have to scroll over to see it.

I guess what im askin is can you pack the lettuce in the measuring cup or can it be loose? One of the side salads at McDonalds is that about a cup or 2 cups? I pick out all the tomotoes and carrots. Im on the road most days so its fast food places and quick stops for my meals.

Moochiecat...you ride that the most important part. put a Harley sticker on your Vino and 95% of people would think its a Harley *lol*

You've gone to UserCP at the top of the screen and you are trying to put this in your signature, correct?

              Here, let me try:

DANDR 2002 says "loosely packed". I don't eat at McDonalds so I'm not sure of the amount of lettuce they put into their side salads. However, I have measured the side salad at Burger King. The lettuce is about 1 1/2 cups. The tomato and onion, combined, comes to about 1/2 cup.

                  Didn't work...hmmm
You may have to post that picture somewhere like Photobucket and then link to it there.
Photobucket will give you three options, one will have the [img] brackets around it already so you can just cut and then paste that into your signature.

Re: This may be a stupid question.......

I tried the signature thing...get the same results....Im not real good at these internet things...mostly use the internet to find neeked pictures...*naughty grin*

I would guess McDonalds and BK side salads are about the same.

Has anyone seen anything like a guide for eating on the road? Kinda induction stull for the traveler?

                    Thanks

zz, just like Moochie recommended, goto http://photobucket.com/
just sign up there and upload your picture. At the bottom of the uploaded picture will be the IMG code. You just need to copy and paste that code here, and your good ta go. It is self explanatory, and not too difficult
I do know that there was a list of lo carb stuff for fast foods..but I really don't know where to find it now. Basically, your just going to have to make smart decisions. Like, Subway for instance has a lo carb wrap..but you can't have the wrap part while on induction. So, you would just have to eat the veggies and meat <watch out for the processed cheese>. You were smart to pull the carrots out of the salad, but don't worry about the tomato. It is on the list of acceptable foods, just don't go overboard because you have to watch portions. Carry the list of acceptable food around with you. If it ain't on the list, you can't have it. Period. Even at Jack n The box you can get a chicken sandwich <they use real chicken breast, not processed> and just take off the bun. My husband and I just started Atkins on the 3rd, and he has lost 15lbs so far I am attaching our wedding picture...so this is basically a sneak peek of a 'before' picture, but only of him. I wasn't pregnant yet, so that is not a before picture of me. That is a picture of what I want to weigh again. Anyhoo, the picture of you and your bike inspired me to post ours

                      I did it!!

                        Fast Food eating.....

In the Food Subsection of ADBB, there is a Low Carb-Eating Out forum. In that is a sticky with the links to the nutritional info most US Fast Food establishment. I suggest that you visit those sites and download/print their nutritional info for you to bring with you. That will help in menu planning.

Otherwise, stick to the basics. In burger and chicken restaurants, make sure you are eating 100% beef or chicken. Many offer fresh vegetable salads. Salad dressings are usually filled with sugar, so carry a bottle of olive oil and bottle of vinegar with you. If you can put a small cooler in your vehickle, you'll be able to bring bottled salad dressing and mayonnaise on your travels.

In diners and similar restaurants, stick to the basics: eat grilled food, avoid sauces and gravies. Fresh salads or steammed vegetables are your best bets. And don't be afraid or embarrassed to ask questions about how the food is prepared. For example, most servers aren't going to yell at you tell them not to prepare your food with added sugar, flour and starches. Most won't yell at you if you ask them to substitute the potato with a serving of cooked vegetable or salad.

And finally, be sure to keep a copy of the Rules of Induction and the Induction acceptable food list with you so you can quickly refer to it.
