  • What If Im Under 20 Carbs?

    So far today I've only had 4 carbs...is this good or bad? Ive been trying to keep it around 15-20 but yesterday and today have been harder because Im feeling great and I dont feel like eating. Tonight Ill have a salad with a few onions and tomatos, so that should get me up on carbs a little but am I only hurting myself by eating less than 15-20??

    Can you post a menu? Unless you are eating nothing but meat, I don't see how you can only be eating 4 carbs. No eggs or cheese or cream? All of those contain carbs. If you don't eat enough veggies then yes, you are not doing yourself a favour and your weight loss will slow down. So post a menu and let's see what's up.

      I havent had eggs for the last few days ( the only way I like them is boiled and i was getting kinda tired of that )...i bet thats it and i havent been eating a lot of cheese either, that and I havent had my huge veggie fix yet today Ill boost these up that'll help. Sorry, looking at my last few days of fit day answered my own question.

        If you can, try to space out your veggies throughout the day..."a huge veggie fix" can cause blood sugar spikes. It's ok to eat under your 20g carbs, but if you're eating all your veggies it should probably be 10-20g, depending on the veggies.

          Have you read Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution, version 2002, DANDR for short? If you follow the Rules of Induction and eat correctly from the Acceptable Foods list, you'll be right about where you need to be when it comes to fat/protein/carbs.
          A way to double check where you are is to get a free www.fitday.com account and plug your foods in there.

            As for the book, no i havent got it yet...I am planning on it this weekend. I am signed up with fitday and Im finding it wonderful!! My %'s for the past 5 days have been ( not exact everyday, but pretty close ) .

            Fat:55%
            Carbs: 2%
            Protein:42%
            Are those ok? Or does the protein need to be higher?

            Today was really screwy because I didnt make a salad with my lunch and when I put breakfast and lunch into Fitday, it showed that I only had four carbs and I kinda freaked and came directly to here and asked if that was enough Sorry if there was any confusion.

              Actually, the fat needs to be higher--65% fat, 5% carb, and 30% protein is ideal. Atkins is NOT high protein, it is primarly high fat.

                In my opinion, it is something to be very concerned about. You aren't eating everything you are supposed to eat which is a critical key to success on Atkins. If you don't eat enough you could prevent weight loss by forcing your poor body to stay in starvation mode.

                Atkins isn't anything like a low fat diet at all.

                You can't wing this way of life. You need to understand the science behind it. Read the 2002 DANDR. Read the stickies too and follow them!

                The attitude you have about eggs isn't helpful to you.

                There are many different ways to make eggs and they are all delicious.

                There are ways to make eggs where they don't taste like eggs. The mock danish for example.

                  I can relate here, I hate hate hate eggs, I can have them scrambled sometimes that is all.and I need to have them with bacon an covered with a slice of cheese.
                  I ve stopped having eggs when I was 6 years old, Im 33 now. Being able to have 6 eggs a week is miracle.
                  Im going to see if I can eat the mock danish but I doubt it...

                    Im also having problems my menu for today has only 11 carbs. And I had two eggs. Im trying to avoid cheese, I had my 3 cups of veggies, one being asparagus. I dont know where to get more carbs...
