Smashed cauliflower is a good idea--make it tongiht and have it tomorrow to heat up. Also cream cheese, splenda, and cocoa powder mixed together make a nice cold treat that might be good on the sore spot.Female, 21, 5'6"

Re: Dental work done.... what can I eat?
If you've never had a root canal before, you may not be as sore as you think.
I know they have a nasty reputation, but i've had two and both times I was able (and told by the dentist) that I could eat normally afterwards if I felt like I wanted to. The only part of me that was sore was obviously where I got the shots. Both of mine were in the front teeth so I dont know how it is if yours is a molar, but to set your mind at ease a little, they aren't as bad as everyone says they are.F/24/5'10"

Re: Dental work done.... what can I eat?
I know a few people who just sailed through their root canals, and I hope the same goes for you.
I suggest soup as well. Just take chicken broth, throw in some broccoli, kale, onion, garlic, zucchini (I like to add some grated ginger too) and cook till the veggies are really soft. You might want to put the kale in ahead of time as it can take a while to soften.
Then use an immersion blender to puree it all...add a bit of cream if you like, and voila, soup! (you can also throw it into a regular blender if you don't have an immersion one)

Definitely go for the eggs...throw a little pepperjack cheese or something in there to make it a little more exciting! Also, if you cook zucchini or squash, that gets really soft. How about ground beef or turkey? That'd be pretty easy.

Re: Dental work done.... what can I eat?
I do receive e-mails to this effect from time to time, and though I would not dare compare having all 4 wisdom teeth pulled a year and a half ago to a root canal, I got through it by eating lots of heavily steamed veggies: to the point that they're mushy. I'd add butter for extra mushiness, too! Mock Mash is certainly another great choice. Lots of broth, low-carb shakes with silken tofu to bulk it up and provide a nice sense of fullness. Salmon/cream cheese pinwheels you can get at health food stores are a great, soft way to get in some fish. (I love fish!!) Also, pumpkin cream cheese melted together with a bit of ground cinnamon - or apple or pumpkin pie spice - and a packet of Splenda or Stevia stirred in. Flax seed or wheat bran pancakes using a bit of egg, heavy cream, macadamia nut oil or tahini (two very low-carb nut butters for after Induction). 4% cottage cheese with berries squished in there (after Induction).
I always have loads of ideas for this sort of thing.Sheila, Founder of SugarFreeSheila.com

Re: Dental work done.... what can I eat?
When I was a baby, and my mom wanted me to start eating regular food as opposed to baby food, she would put whatever meat and veggies she was having into a blender and puree it until it was the consistency of baby food. Dang good stuff too! Back then it was usually meat and potatoes, but you could do meat and cauliflower. Hmmm, I might make me some of that just for kicks LOL~Joy

Re: Dental work done.... what can I eat?
Well I can't have the meat stuff, but everything else sounds great! Thanks for all the help! I have had two root canals done before, and they arent as bad as people say, I'm still a little nervous, but I can't wait till it's over with.
