  • Movie Snack Ideas... help!

Anyone have a good idea for what to snack on at the movies? Went last night and just had water ~ that was hard! I am used to snacking on something sweet and drinking soda, of course. But no more... so what to do?

    Thanks!!!

I bring a baggie of almonds, or we have dinner before the movie and get water. I was a popcorn addict, but luckily the bf doesn't like it so that helps alot. Nuts, pepperonis, things like that would travel well in a purse.

Nuts aren't allowed in the first 14 days of Induction. But you can bring cut up veggies or pepperoni like Dots suggested.

The only thing I can caution you about is changing your eating habits. If you're the type of person who eats/snacks while watching tv or reading, you might want to try substituting that eating habit with something else. Since you're in a dark-ish theater with your boyfriend, you might try something no carb like smooching during the previews.

          Pork rinds.

Mix a bag of pork rinds in a ziploc with some Splenda and cinnamon and you've got a nice little salt/sweet snack. Just make sure you put it in a small ziploc and carry a nice diaper bag or smuggle it in your shirt (and don't ask me why I know ).

              Re: Movie Snack Ideas... help!

When I go to a movie, I stop at a CVS and get a bag of sugar-free candy with no aspartame. I don't know if CVS stores carry these nationwide, but at mine they have sugar-free, low-carb Reese's, Hershey's, Russell Stover chocolates, Jelly Belly, Twizzlers, and others. One small bag is $1.99 and I'll eat a little in the theatre and a little over the course of a week or two. They also sell Atkins Advantage and Endulge bars.
Jelly Belly makes sugar-free popcorn-flavored jelly beans if you really get desperate!
Also, I haven't personally tried it, but I've seen a recipe that makes faux popcorn out of cauliflower. You can check that out here: http://users3.ev1.net/~fontlady/caul...r_popcorn.html

I do't think they are allowed on induction though?

                  Re: Movie Snack Ideas... help!

I usually make cheese nips (I save my cheese allotment all day for this). You take from one to four slices of American Cheese (not cheese food -- only the deluxe real cheese stuff) and fold them into four, six, eight pieces (however big you want) onto a piece of wax paper (putting them around the outer edges first since that cooks the quickest). Then you put them in the microwave and nuke for about 70 seconds. Let cool a few seconds and they should peel or pop off the wax paper.

They are yummy! (Especially if you like Cheese Nips!)

Then, I bring a Diet Rite with me so I have my soft drink and my snack. Makes my tummy happy.

Thanks everyone!!! What great ideas... i think i am going to try kat's cheese nip idea next time we go to the movies. My husband and i used to go all of the time, but now with the baby we don't get to go nearly as much as we used to. Now it is Netflix - not even TV that much anymore, unless you count Fraggle Rock. Hee hee... i love that show.

I wasn't thinking induction in regards to the nuts, my bad. I like the "cheese nips" also.

I like taking the the big circles of provolone, micro wave 3 (about 2 ounces) 2:00 minutes, oh yes, and sprinkle them with just enough chili powder for taste, awesome cheese crackers, very filling too!

I also agree that you should have a smooch at the cinema as opposed to eating a snack!

Check out this link where it claims a one minute kiss can burn off 26 calories, so in five minutes you can burn off a packet of crisps!!!

Wow... i can't imagine "making out" in the movie theater now. Ha ha ha. I remember back in the day when we used to pay $5 for a movie ticked just to make out... i saw "Scrooged" 15 time in the movie theater one year for that purpose exactly... same boyfriend, folks... same one. Ha ha ha.
