Re: I'm on Day 2 of Induction!!

I try to work in a nice two cups of romaine salad for one of my meals, usually lunch or dinner, and put random low carb stuff on them:

    2 cups romaine
    chicken breast
    shreaded cheese
    cut up eggs
taco meat (ground beef with taco seasonings)
tuna with a touch of mayo
    turkey
    ham

Obviously not all of the above at the same time, but I pick and choose which ones I want to put on a paticular salad, and it keeps it interesting.

My favorite dressing is ranch, but I am trying a few others too.

      Hi
I buy german-style sausages (bratwurst, bockwurst) which I buy in Lidl which are made of virtually all meat with spices added and are low in carbs. Another similar supermarket chain is Aldi which has lots of continental meats too.

I found that very few supermarkets sell sausage meat but if you can find it and it is just ground pork then it will be low in carbs. You could also buy some pieces of pork (belly meat is good as it has fat and lean meat in it) you could put it in a food processor or through a mincer to make your own. It might be worth asking in a butcher's shop (if you have any left where you live) if they can make you some up.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

That sounds very nice as well, it reminds me of the noodles our previous next door neighbour used to make us - she was indonesian and made noodles with shreaded ham, chicken, and egg, what i would give to have some right now!

            Hi Elizellen,

I knoe what you mean about the lack of butchers, we had two buthers in our town before ASDA arrived, and not they are both gone!!!! They've been killed off by ASDA.

I found some sausage meet in ASDA yesterday, however it had (i think it was) 9g per 100g

Funny, i actually work along the road from ALDI - but i haven't been in there for a couple of months, as i'm allways tempted by their nice chocolate and sweets, i've been known to come out of there with a carrier bag full of the stuff! What makes matters worse is their prices are so reasonable to - it makes them unresistable!! The problem with that store is they place the sweets and chocolate towards the front door so you HAVE to walk past it to get to the rest of the store.

I'll have to walk in their at lunchtime blinkfolded and i'll have a look to see what sausages they have - hopefully they WON'T be stuffed with rusk like our English ones are

Re: I'm on Day 2 of Induction!!

              Elizellen,

Thank you for your recommendation regarding the sausauges and ALDI.

I went to ALDI at lunchtime i managed to get a packet of those 'Bratwurst' sausages - they've only got 0.5g or carbs per 100g, compared with the norm of 7-9g!!!!!

I wasn't really looking forward to tasting them to be quite honest, as i thought they were going to taste quite horid, but to my surprise they taste NO different to normal sausages!

Don't know what all the rusk is supposed to do then in our sausages

I am glad you were able to get them - and like the taste too!

I think it might have been a 'wartime' thing initially (to bulk out scarce meats)which they continued afterwards. I suppose it makes them cheaper to produce - and if people in general got used to it there would be no incentive to make them more expensively!
Sorry not to respond earlier but I have not been online for a few days due to work commitments.
