  • Anyone eat NC style BBQ?

    Hey guys!

I've always heard stay away from BBQ and never understood why... I think some places around the U.S. eat it with tomato sauce or something?

We just eat it ... plain pork with vinegar.... that is okay correct? I bought some pre-packaged at the grocery store and it had 2 carbs (fiber) in 1/3 cup.

Just need some advice! Wondering if there is something I don't know about or don't remember reading in the book about pork.

    Thanks!

Whoa now... there are of course TWO kinds of North Carolina BBQ (Eastern vs. Western). And we all know which one is better . But that aside, the vinegar based BBQ should be fine if you watch what all you put on it. But man, BBQ without the cornbread and mashed potatos... I lack the willpower for that!

Like you all have indicated, it depends on the barbeque. I was never fond of ribs drowned in a gooey sauce. So whenever I order ribs, I tell them "no sauce".

I bought some really delicious ribs over the weekend----no sauce, and a really good smoky flavor that comes from slow cooking over a wood fire rather than the smoke-flavored sauce.

Well, now there's also Memphis style BBQ which is generally a rub of some kind. You have to be a little careful there, you'll often see brown sugar in the rub depending. And of course you can always just smoke some ribs like you said not2late

I made my own sauce (thin vinegar sauce) a few weeks back and put it on everything! the flavor is fabulous. I do like Megs when I order BBQ somewhere, tell um sauce on the side or none at all. I never liked sweet BBQ to begin with!

we had a great crockpot NC BBQ in the database that was induction freindly too. you can make your own dry rubs too remember just about any rub can be desugared and will taste fine low carbing.

follow this rule for any food you want if the ingredients in the food are induction legal the food is induction legal!

for example if you look Mayo isn't on the induction acceptable lists anywhere but the ingredients in mayo are so mayo is legal.
