  • IM BACK (again! PLZ READ)

I have been on here i wanna say 6 times about losing weight and blah blah blah.

I work at disneyland. I want to get into the entertainment department and be a face character.. If i want to do that I need to lose 30 lbs.. and be at least thin.. if not in shape.. I know cutting calories and portions wont do it (cause im bad at that.)

so atkins here i come for another attempt

    1. I don't own the book (im poor) (very POOR)
    2. im on an extremely fixed income
    3. I maxed out my credit card so I can't go to 24hour fitness anymore..

so here i go with my questions

    1. what foods can i buy that are cheap that are induction friendly.. that i can eat through out the day
    2. will i still lose the weight.. just working at disneyland.. and walking around the park all the time?
    3. how often should i weigh myself and what measurements should i take
    AND
    4. what are these little boot campy things? Should I and where can I do them?

Please don't take this the wrong way... but you will fail. You need to read the book. Go to your library and check out a copy. Without the book you're not going to understand why you're doing what you're doing, and that means failure.

With regards to the book, it can be found on amazon or places like ebay for next to nothing now (cost wise) I think I heard that you can pick it up for $0.01.
      .
(see the amazon link at the bottom of the screen).

        Hi!
        1. The book is a must (does the library have one to read while you save up to buy your own?)
        2. I know how much walking you do at Disneyland, and that absolutely does count as exercise.
        3. Drink LOTS of water - another MUST ~ 64 ounces plus another 8 ounces for every 25 pounds you have to lose. This was the hardest part for me, as I NEVER drank water before starting this.
        4. Bring your own food to work ALWAYS so you won't be tempted by the park food.
        5. Veggies (not all are allowed, which is why you need the book) are pretty cheap. If you know someone who belongs to Sam's or Costco you can have them pick up a bag of boneless chicken breasts, which should last you awhile and costs way less than if you were to buy them in the grocery store. Same with cheese. Canned tuna is cheap.
        6. After all of this is said, the only other thing I can say is that you need to examine whether or not you are really ready to commit to this, because if you are honest with yourself and the answer is 'yes', you will get the book and YOU WILL SUCCEED. I wish you tons of luck!!!!

Exercise - walk briskly around the park, do situps & pushups every day/every other day.

Food - Bring food with you! Yes, there are some inexpensive, easy to pack things. Buy canned tuna fish/chicken, real mayo, onions, & celery. Then mix it up for a tuna fish/chicken salad (which you can eat for days). Use celery to scoop it with or buy salad greens and put it on top & eat it with a fork. Other things... string chz, pickles, cheese burger without the bun, chicken, ham & swiss rollups, canned meats, eggs (hard boiled, scrambled, etc.)... the list goes on & on. You're young & you work, so I would suggest you prepare things that will last a few days (hard boiled eggs, chicken/tuna salad, grilled/baked chicken), and also get 'grab & go' items like string cheese & sliced meets. Here is a wallet sized Allowed Foods List: http://www.atkinsdietbulletinboard.c...ead.php?t=3286
Stick to it and count your carbs to not exceed 20 carbs a day (carbs= # of carbs on package - fiber count). You can find tons of free sites online that tell you how many carbs are contained in food or, even easier, just read the packages! Keep a list of what you eat & the amount of carbs for at least a week, until you get the hang of things.

Drinks -NO MORE sugar drinks! You must drink at least 64 oz. of water a day. Just go to a gas station carry out and buy a large bottle of water (preferably with the squirt bottle cap). Keep refilling it & use it as your water bottle. You'll drink just fine. Stay away from diet drinks and low-carb drinks & sweets until you hit your goal weight. You can have 2-3 Splenda packets or flavored waters a day if you have a sweet tooth. No alcohol for 2 weeks, even low-carb!

Vitamins- This is really needed to keep your energy up. You need Atkin's Vitamins or another brand that has 0 carbs & no iron. You may feel a little tired & constipated the 1st week or so. You're just going through carb withdrawal and your body is switching over. You'll be amazed how you look & feel after 2 weeks on the diet! So, if you're going to do it, stay on it 100% for 2 weeks.

Book- I picked my Atkin's Diet Revolution book up at a second hand store for about $3. Look at used book stores & Goodwills in your area. It will really help you out and walk you through any problems you have AND explain why you need to do/not do certain things during the first 2 weeks of induction. You can start the diet now, but be on the lookout for the book! Also, read some of the Stickys in the forum. They have tons of info on how to do Atkins.

            Good luck!

              Hi, Fiyer, welcome back
The book is important, and if you like, PM me your address and I'll send you one of my copies. (I seem to have 4)
Cheap induction foods are plentiful. There is a post about doing Atkins on a budget that Ill try to find. LOL, your not alone in that regard. Many of us need to watch our penny's

Walking around the park as part of your job may or may not be exercise. You need to get some cardio and some weight training, even if the weights are books or jugs of water.

Stay off the scales if you can. They are evil. A tight pair of jeans can be more revealing than the tape measure.

              We can do this.

              41 pounds down and counting

The book is definitely crucial, but reading the stickies will absolutely assist you until then.

While on induction and throughout your journey, one of the most important things is to drink water. Drink water. Carry it around with you so you'll always have some available.

What happened with your first attempt...what made you stop? Have you taken care of that issue...otherwise that may be a problem for you again. As for the book, you do need to read it, however, going online to the Atkins website or reading some of the info on this board can be just as helpful as you get around to getting the book. Try your local thrift shop...I've seen copies there before for as little as 50 cents. GOOD LUCK!!

COMPLETELY OFF TOPIC........Getting to work must be an adventure for you everyday, provided that your location says Salt Lake City, Utah and Disneyland is in Anaheim, California. Wow, if you walk, that DEFINATELY COUNTS AS EXERCISE!!
