  • When Is This Safe To Eat?

    Sorry, dont' know where to post this so thought I'd try here. I'm, attaching a link to something that I want to try but don't know that it's necessarily safe for induction. Can one of you "senior" Atkiners help me please!?

      Chocolate Liquor, Polydextrose (fiber), Cocoa Butter, Cocoa Powder, Soy Lecithin (an emulsifier), Sodium Bicarbonate, Sucralose, Vanilla.

      First off, I have to give "THE" talk. IS chocolate a downfall for you? Will it take you back to your old ways of eating? IMHO........ think this through real real good! My problem was things like chocolate treats etc. Is it going to wake up the carb/sugar monster?
      I would say hold off on these until you have really established a healthy way of eating and are sure it will not effect you.

          hold off on this until you know how you do with anything sweet remeber Dr Atkins famous says desserts and sweets are occasional treats not every day events.

          polydextrose is a sugar molecule doctored with sorbitol and an acid used as a bulking agent it. runs about one cal per gram making it ideal for replacing some of the bulking agents in low carb foods.

          But it can still give you the bathroom effects of any high fiber food or SA and 16 grams is quite a bit of fiber form one bar. 90 grams a day is the threshold level for most folk to get the bathroom effect.

            Although I agree that it's safest to stay away from the allure of all sweets right now, I don't know of anyone that's tried those particular ones so I don't know what they taste like.

            All of my low carb friends say that these are, by far, the best tasting chocolate bars they've had even compared to a regular chocolate bar.....

            They all say that it is silky smooth and there is no after taste like in some sugar free bars and that if you did a blind folded taste test for the best chocolate, this would win hands down.

              I think it's not so much chocolate that's my downfall, but really anything sweet... I don't know why, but I have a hard time saying no (well I know why I just wish I had the will power to say no if I'm not on Atkins!) And I am PMSing so I just want to eat. I get so hungry! I think that I'm looking to a chocolate sub out of habit more than craving. I haven't had a craving for over a week now which I love! I'm just frustrated because I would really like some tasty comfort food and am having a hard time figuring out what to have. I'm trying to make pumpkin pancakes right now... I'm experimenting and I have to say... Not going so well! They are sooooo wet inside. Not a happy camper!

              I made some mini cheescakes the first week and will probably do that tonight. I got six out of the recipe so...

                spread the pumpkin mixed with some cream cheese or butter and pie spice on your flax hot cakes instead for a great induction legal meal
