  • I'm feeling sluggish

    Hi,

I started last thursday and have been very sluggish and my muscles are sore. I've been eating all meals and plenty of fat. Does anyone else feel this way?

Thanks. I wasn't planning on quitting, but I just didn't feel well. I was just wondering if this was normal.

        Re: I'm feeling sluggish

I am at the same place, started the same day. My calf muscles feel as if they have had bad cramps and are VERY sore. I just feel run down, kinda like I have the flu - but I know it is my body getting out all the toxic stuff I filled it with.

We CAN do this - don't quit !! There is plenty of inspiration, support and wonderful tips here to help us over this hump. I read here several times a day - haven't posted much but I read a ton.

Keep on keeping on !!! You CAN do it !!

Totally agree. I started yesterday, and passed out at 10pm. I had to drag myself out of bed this morning, but there is no way I'm going to quit. Pass the Bacon!!!

It gets better! I felt the same way as well the first few days and now feel MUCH better! No caffeine headaches and not tired at all without it amazingly.

Induction flu is a real bore...but it's a sign your body is withdrawing from carbs/caffeine and other nasties. Hang in there... it'll pass in a few days and you'll start to feel energised and wonderful.

If I DONT get the flu, does that mean I'm not doing something right?

I totally understand what you guys are talking about. I feel like I've been hit by a bus by 2pm. I'll be glad when this parts over.

                    Re: I'm feeling sluggish

Ahhhh yes, induction flu. Most folks get it, some don't.

If you are having muslce pain, keep in mind that eating this way causes a diuretic effect (meaning your body expels most of it's stored water very quickly) so it is CRUCIAL that you are drinking a MINIMUM of 64 ounces of pure water per day. And because of the diuretic properties, you should be drinking even more than that. Muscle fatigue and cramping especially are one of the first signs of dehydration.

Divide your weight in half and that is how many ounces of water you should shoot for in a day.

Bottoms up on those water bottles!

Along with the diuretic effect, your body can become deficient in electrolytes/minerals. You can often remedy this with naturally salty (and I DON'T mean table salt) foods or those with high mineral content (such as shellfish). Or (and I find this helpful 200% for eliminating muscle weakness/cramps) take a vitamin/mineral supplement without iron, or at very least take calcium, magnesium and potassium. You can get calcium eating cheese, bones, shells. A pinch of Epsom salt (fully dissolved in water) is a Magnesium source. Potassium can be bought inexpensively in tablets.

Avacados are a great source of potassium naturally. There is more potassium in a serving of avacado than there is in a serving of banana. So, eat vegetables that are high in vitamins and minerals, research them to find the ones that get you the most value for your "carbohydrate dollar" so to speak.
