Re: ? about switch in plans

Elizellen, Thanks soooooooooo much for your kind words of encouragment. It means so much to me. I really had a battle with myself yesterday. Do I give my body a chance to recover and stay w/Atkins or do I go back to starving myself. I am holding strong because I know this works and I know that I feel the BEST while eating this way. I was eating almost 0 carbs for 2 weeks and yes, I lost 20 pounds but it was very unhealthy. I jumped back onto Atkins and I think my body was sooooooo excited with having some food. How can I eat under 200 cals everyday for 2 weeks, almost 0 carbs per day and not be hungry. Then I switched to Atkins and I was starving. I grabbed the wrong things. A bite of pepperoni here and a few other things that are loaded with salt. I thought I could just jump into atkins at rung 1 but I think it was a bad idea. I think I need a clean induction even though I just came off of very low carbs. Thanks so much for taking time to write to me.

Bren, Thanks for the reply. You all are so supportive I am 5'5.5 and last thursday my weight was 222. I lost 20 pounds in the 2 prior weeks. I only ate that way for 2 weeks and then I couldnt do it anymore. My first goal weight is 160 then my all time goal is 140-145. I was taking a multi, a potassium, B6 daily. I have since dropped the potassium because I already feel so much better switching to Atkins. What are your thoughts about doing a clean induction?

********A hugh hugs to those that have responded to this thread. Your support is appreciated and has helped in keeping me from going back to a starvation diet. Thank you

Promise me you WON'T go back to the starvation diet!!! PLEASE!!!

You may have little or no results in your next two weeks. BUT........please remember you are coming off a very stressful time for your body. Give your body time to recoop and figure out you are not going to starve it anymore.

IMHO........be kind to yourself, try eating frequent small meals, take your vitamins, drink your water and make sure your doing some sort of exercise. STAY OFF THE SCALE and as always, make friends with your tape measure.

No way!! No more starvation diets for me. I wanted to thank you all for your support. I had a very depressing week watching the scale go up and up and up.... 10 pounds to be exact. I refused to give in and stuck it out. Happy to say that Im down 4 out of the 10 pounds and things are looking brighter! I feel much better. I just wanted to give an update to let you know Im still here

          Bostongirl, that's great news.

I'm so glad that you're eating some healthy foods and taking good care of your body! It's great that you're down 4 pounds, but what's even more important is your health and wellbeing. It sounds like you're feeling a lot better! And that's what Atkins is about...it's not a diet, it's a lifechange. I honestly can see myself eating like this for the rest of my life because I don't feel deprived at all.

Keep us posted on your progress, and if you have questions, don't be afraid to ask.

Hi bostongirl, keep up that great work, you're going so well
I switched from a "starve yourself, trying to get rid of pounds" diet to Atkins last year and in my first 5 days I put on 7lbs! and by the end of the 14 days had lost those plus 17 more. So hang in there, I know how you feel and it sounds like you're doing great and it's so worth it.
