  • Why no diet coke?

I'm new to the forum and have been reading a bunch of the threads. I realize Dr Atkins said no caffeine, and only use splenda (3 sweeteners). But, why? Is it because it makes you crave sweets or affects blood sugar?
    Thank you in advance.

    Re: Why no diet coke?

I have heard that it is because it will cause cravings. I personally think that too much will also affect blood sugar. (My own opinion....)

    Good Luck!!

it has aspartame in it, this stalls lots of people.

After your initial 2 week induction give it a go and see if it stalls you

I drink diet dr. pepper sometimes. I haven't had any major stalls. I dont make my diet soda a daily thing-but every now and then. Im trying to stick with water and away from artificial sweetners for the most part..

I think you just have to see if it effects you or not.

          Re: Why no diet coke?

Another reason for not drinking too many 'diet drinks' is that for most of us it is a chore to get even the minimum 64 ounces of plain water let alone the extra 8 fluid ounces for every 25 pounds we want to lose!!
So if we allow ourself diet drinks as well we might well not be able to manage our minimum of water too!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Its a "your mileage may vary thing". Personally I would suggest you stay away from it and drink just water. (thats what I did, especially in the first 3 months of the plan).
