  • The Induction Flu - Is it a problem that I'm NOT experiencing these symptoms?

Ok so this is my 2nd time on Atkins. I tried it last yer some time and stopped a few weeks later. But during the 1st week I was miserable! I had stomach cramps, flu symptoms, was irritable, had like cold sweats, etc. And after the 1st week I was fine!

But I'm not on my 5th day of re-induction, and I'm not having ANY of these symptoms! But I'm eating the same things I did back then. The only difference is that I'm exercising every single day, but before I did not. Could this be why I'm not experiencing the flu-like symptoms?

Is it ok NOT to experience these symptoms? I always thought that I was supposed to be going through withdrawal symptoms from carbs in order for it to be working properly. But I'm not having any withdrawal symptoms this time. But I have lost 5lbs in the past 5 days. So what's up with that?

Nope, I only had it twice and I've restarted a million times.

I barely felt any symptoms myself. I think it's worse the more carbs/caffeine you were use to before starting Atkins. I'd say just be happy it's not hitting you this time. =)

Ok that makes sense. I wasn't eating boat loads of carbs or anything before I started induction, no pasta or anything like that. Was eating a lot of cheese and crackers and granola bars and sandwhiches though... hmm, so maybe I was.

Oh well, I'm happy it's not hitting me this time. I was miserable last time!

Dr Atkins suggests that not all of us will experience any of the effects he thought of as withdrawal symptoms when he says they 'may' occur
Withdrawal symptoms, caused by food addictions, may occur, but will subside within a few days.
I for one had no 'induction flu' symptoms when I started Atkins.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

I think the people who suffer the most are the ones who eat a lot of sugar... and drink a lot of caffeine

I never got much of it wither

I've never had induction flu. And I thank G-d for that!

Some people just never have it. And for some people, maybe, exercising reduces or eliminates the vast majority of symptoms.

Just embrace it and have fun!!!!!!!!!!! You're doing great!
